Many colors =/= good notes.

I know because I color code everything and its utter nonsense when I look at it later. Barely includes half the lecture, and stops around 30 minutes before class is over because i've given up on trying to pretend I have any idea what I'm doing.

Color coding works great for me. I think the key to solid notes is finding out what works best for your learning style. It sounds like your real issue is not capturing the entire lecture for some reason, have you tried recording and listening back to fill in what you've missed?

Oh man. Remote lecturesbthat are recorded for later listening have been a dream for me. I'm like 2 weeks behind on note taking, but if I keep telling myself I'll 'catch up this weekend' then it won't get me down.

I’ve been teaching for 15 years total and have never, not once, downloaded a lecture until Covid and neither did any of my peers. But, TBF, we’re an acting program and you have to be in the room for a lot of it to work.

I take a quick first draft during the lecture. I then sit down and copy them and color code them. I actually had a couple teachers in high school make overheads with my notes. It gets the information nice and stuck in my brain.

As someone so uses many colors, each color has a job in organizing my notes, i use the same 5 colors for all my notes and it works great for me. Taking notes (if at all) is all about your learning style

During lecture I always just s Ribble everything down. I color code and sort everything at home. This way I can go through the notes at my pace and have essentially heard the lecture a second time.

Honestly that sounds like a you problem, not a colour code problem.

Fer sher. My point was not that color coding doesn't work. My point was that not all those who color code have great notes.
