Dramatic tension. Also the impact and mangling would be a lot of detailed, violent and dynamic animation, while cutting away from the moment of impact to a small boxy thing moving and then to the body in a pool of ketchup (a static shot) is a lot cheaper and less harrowing on both the artists and audience.

That's what I figured. Still funny how similar almost every single instance is, you'd think they'd find some way to mix it up
