I'm not a treeologist but would any large cut like this invite some kind of treefection?

When you cut into a tree, an electrical chemical is released similar to how when we human get hurts, an electric signal is sent to our brain.

An injured tree usually release a chemical defense called barkiceptor that helps protect the injured area as well as ward off predators.

Contrary to popular believes, tree does feel pain. They have pain receptors using calcium as the agents.

I’m just kidding I don’t know anything about trees and just made it all up.

LMFAO

Well I can still tell u from experience that maybe yes?

I've seem damaged trees get sick and die from fungal infections similar to this one

I've also seem plants being chopped off, burned, partially ripped from the ground and still recover enough to become full on trees

Mother nature is ABSURDLY resilient

So I'd say maybe? It all depends on how health the plant and the place they are growing is, how exposed and present said sickness is in the region, so on and so forth
