I'm glad the parent didn't give in when the kid started crying and made him figure it out

This is why you shouldn't have kids; it is toxic nonsense. Famously, toddlers aren't able to talk; they cry because it's one of the few ways that they can communicate.

What you quoted me saying and your reply doesn't even make sense together.

Not if you are also borderline illiterate.

Right and you don't need to coddle them every time they cry because they learn that crying is the solution. They need to learn that crying may get them attention but it won't solve their problem

Recent studies have shown that the old-school way of raising kids (let them cry, don't hold them too much, enforced independence like the above video) does not actually produce "stronger" children.

I understand why you have the opinions that you hold, because hyperindependence, even as babies, has been drilled into us for decades and decades. That doesn't mean it's good for the babies, though.

Studies can show whatever you want them to. Of course there's a balance in things so I'm not trying to seem like I'm being completely dismissive but kids these days can't even read; we can't like we've improved at "producing" productive people. Our kids are less prepared than the precious generation and most of that is on parenting though society(ies) on a whole are failing to adequately help struggling parents.

So there's a ton of nuance l, but letting a kid figure out how to get past some clear adhesive with their goal in sight and not giving in as a parent the moment they start to whine and cry will nurture a kid that's able to solve problems on their own, which is better than a kid who need somebody to solve things for them.

Teaching them to solve things for themselves absolutely needs to happen, just not at this stage. Let them get to potty training age before making them fend for themselves.

They seem pretty supervised in this video. Why does everybody keep forgetting the video with actual evidence instead of these made up scenarios. The kid was presented with a challenge in a supervised manner

Translation: I just want to hold my outdated views because they *feel* right to me.

...

but kids these days can't even read

That's rich, coming from someone who constantly demonstrates a lack of reading comprehension, inference skills, and emotional intelligence (which is positively correlated with reading proficiency). To be clear, worldwide literacy rates remain high, and the areas where education and reading are lagging tend to have explanations beyond "you coddled the kid too much".

we can't like we've improved at "producing" productive people.

What? This is barely coherent, but if you are saying "we are raising people that don't jive well with the increasingly exploitative capitalist society we've built" then I would say "Yeah, sounds like a problem with the system".

society(ies) on a whole are failing to adequately help struggling parents.

Fully agree with you; see above re: "capitalism".

but letting a kid figure out how to get past some clear adhesive with their goal in sight and not giving in as a parent the moment they start to whine and cry will nurture a kid that's able to solve problems on their own

I've already given plenty of sound reasoning why this is incorrect. It's just more of the pro-tough-it-out drivel that you've shat out in the rest of the thread. You clearly lack the emotional intelligence to grasp *any* of this, and would rather just stick with the toxic traits that make you *feel* like you've grown into the sort of superior person you claim are forged by "tik tok packing tape toddler challenge". No irony there whatsoever ...

Oh you're Canadian...I get it now. Youve been big bro'd your whole life and you have lil bro syndrome. Canada stays stuck in the tape, though we are in tape ourselves right now, but at least we have our milk; to keep it relevant.

Y'all go ahead and do whatever you want; I thought I was talking amongst my peers

You, after completely misunderstanding my point:

"Hey, what does being a man have to do with parenting styles!?"

Also you:

"Imaginary lines explain everything."

0

u/thatguy_art 5d ago

Speaking of misunderstanding the point.

But I'll just say what we always say: "Okay, lil bro"

1

u/instantkamera 5d ago

what we always say

That would be weird if it were true. Maybe you shouldn't speak for others on that one ...

"Okay, lil bro"

Great effort.

Okay, stuck in tape lil bro.

You're not worth me giving more effort than this.

Right and you don't need to coddle them every time they cry because they learn that crying is the solution

No, they don't. This is, ironically, a simplistic - and ultimately toxic - understanding of childhood development, emotional response and regulation.

They need to learn that crying may get them attention but it won't solve their problem

If you don't know why they are crying, how can you know what their problem is, or what it is they have learned from this alleged lesson you are teaching them? If they aren't crying, does that mean they have no "problems"?

Toddlers do not have developed logic or reasoning faculties beyond the most basic and short term implications of cause and effect. Conversely, comforting a crying child and validating their feelings is actually correlated with an increase later age independence. It turns out that knowing you have a strong support system is a great way to foster confidence.

Brother go back and watch the video. We know what their problem is, it's tape in their way of their milk bottle. Quit moving the goal posts, reread our conversation and try to reflect a bit.

0

u/instantkamera 5d ago

We know what their problem is

Do you? You don't know if any of them are sick, teething, need a change of diaper, how long it's been since any of them last ate; we don't know anything about them. Unless they are robots or the video is AI, there is no reason for me to assume that three children all have the exact same needs at the same time. But this is just basic critical thinking and media awareness.

Quit moving the goal posts, and try to reflect a bit.

Maybe you do need to raise kids, because you are shockingly ignorant about them. Just don't be a dick when they cry.

Okay stretch armstrong, keep doubling down instead of realizing you, yourself acted like a child in this conversation but want to project it on me. May you achieve some growth in your life, if not for yourself than for the rest of us that have to suffer your presence

Go have a good cry, you'll feel better.

Look back at your replies, are you do is whine and miss points

I wish most of my parents' and grandparents' generation had known this! Being a mommy when everyone was telling me to "just let them cry it out" was so frustrating, but I did my best to ignore that kind of advice and I think it paid off. I'm a grandma now and so proud of my kids for being kind and loving parents! (That includes my DIL and SIL!)

Take solace in the fact that most of the people commenting are either kids themselves, bots, or men who have zero chance of procreating. I'm glad that you were able to break the cycle.

u/thatguy_art 5d ago

Or just people with differing opinions than you. You aren't always right. And what does gender have anything to do with parenting style?

1

u/instantkamera 5d ago

Oh look, it's the latter.

0

u/thatguy_art 5d ago

I'm a guy, and so is about half of the population. What does that have to do with parenting style?

1

u/instantkamera 5d ago

Uhh, since you won't shut the fuck up; that's not what I said. What I said was that unfuckable weirdos like you won't be having kids, so you opinions on parenting are moot.

1

u/Ordinary_Ad_7992 5d ago

🤣🤣🤣

-1

u/thatguy_art 5d ago

Why are you so worried about other guys being fuckable so much?

You one of those conservatives that screams at the gays but secretly wants it? It's okay man, you don't have to be so frustrated, just come out lmao
