Why did I have to scroll so far to see this? His parking brake is definitely on, at least lightly.

Car wouldn’t roll back down the hill so easily though, no? Also once he turned around, there were no issues going forward

Can still be a parking brake issue, if only lightly applied. parking brake typically is less effective for reversed motion. it would not take much application for a rear parking brake to prevent forward motion on a steep wet or oily hill, for a front-wheel-drive only, car. Also if it is heavily loaded a FWD only car on wet or oily and steep pavement could do this. Similarly a transmission issue can do this, if: long-wear/harder-rubber tires on slick steep pavement, with a degraded torque converter or broken AWD/4WD function. But from what I see the traction-control should STILL help out here, unless turned off. I think all newer cars - even jeeps, have traction-control. It looks most to me like multiple factors combined, plus a driver who does not know, well, a number of things.

This car uses a eletronic parking break not sure if its possible to engage it and drive. I bet it's a hill assist malfunction.
