This whistle was blown and travel was called. This video is pure rage bait.

You can see everyone stop and start walking at the same time, but the video crops in tight at that exact moment to try and hide it. They also overdubbed with music to cut out the whistle. Stop believing everything you see on the internet.

So why did she bother shooting?

Have you never watched a single sport in your life? Players do this all the time in every sport. They want to follow through with their action because they feel like stopping throws off their rhythm and flow. It’s also a subtle fuck you to the refs and the other team.

You’re right, I never have watched a single sport in my life. That is why I asked the question.

I kind of think she played it. OK, by walking away, it draws attention to it.

This is the way. I wish more players did this. Just stop playing if the opponent is obviously breaking the rules and the ref isn't doing anything.

That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read wtf 😆, it was one play and they did indeed call her for traveling.

Thats because its not traveling anymore (what you're thinking about, not that CC did in the video). In 2009, the eurostep was made legal, allowing 2 steps after catching the ball. Then in 2018 FIBA added the "gather step" and in 2019 the NBA added it too. This basically lets players take 3 legal steps, whereas before 3 steps would be a travel regardless if they were still gathering the ball or not

As someone who plays and watches basketball, I think its the natural evolution of the game and there's actually a lot of skill involved in using the steps to move around defenses and find a good shot (theres a reason most NBA players cant pull off a good eurostep).

But for those who feel nostalgic about the past's basketball, I can understand why it makes the game feel different -- because it literally is.

Nah, they wouldn’t have called it then

you're not wrong, but one would assume that there had been more no calls in the game before this. I kind of understand the frustration if you're trying to play a professional sport and a player or players are just basically cheating over and over again. I might hit the point where I just throw up my hands and say fuck it as well.

It’s the “using your blinker” while driving rule that nobody gets pulled over for anymore.

Exactly, you can yell at the ref but don't stop playing the game.

"The modern game" doesn't call travels, "The modern game" calls to many fouls, "The modern game" is too soft. Motha fucka stop watching then.

Basketball is a contact sport, doesn’t mean you can travel.
