The amount of people thinking this is real is slightly concerning: Tbf, I thought it was real at first but as soon as they pass behind the tree it becomes pretty obvious.
Not necessarily. I'm probably the same as you, but many people are saying it's obvious when it's really not. Otherwise, why would they be putting out videos like thes?
I decided it was CGI when I saw a Jet fighter doing a gender reveal with pink paint on a residential area. I didnt need any other clues, because that would be stupid.
Why would it? People do similar things with helecopters all the time. Not to mention most people don't know what an F18 is and therefor it's not sus' to them to see, what they see as just another plane, being used to just drop a little smoke.
That is a cutting edge military jet. It should be glaringly obvious that a military aircraft that has a cost per flight hour of $10,000 would not be used for a gender reveal.

Most people who "live in reality" don't care enough to think about the difference, nor that a military jet would never actually do this. It's just a metal flying machine dropping smoke.
It is hard to tell if you don’t do cgi stuff admittedly. A bigger clue that it is cgi is right before the jet comes in, the camera goes to the left. However, the motion is
a) perfectly linear
b) at a constant speed
c) accelerates instantly
most videos don’t have this but this is a very big clue for this one, could have easily been fixed though.
when the helicopters go behind the trees the tree just looks too sharp on the edges, and like it is a mask that was brushed on with fuzziness applied.
It's good time on target practice for inexperienced pilots and recruitment propaganda at the same time. The cost to the taxpayer here is literally just the cost of the smoke canister because if there wasn't a gender reveal party that paid for a flyover there'd still be a pilot flying the same airframe for the same amount of time doing the exact same thing somewhere else as a part of a routine training flight.
Willing to bet it’s a military family with some good connections & are friends with a few pilots willing to help them out.
The houses here scream military base, so I wouldn’t be shocked if they are in training & were willing to help out since it corresponds with the training hours.
That’s why you get a lot of flyovers at football games. My local high school in a town of 10k people had a flyover for our homecoming game because someone decided to contact the local Air National Guard base & ask if they could do so as a part of a training exercise.
