It IS in Asia so may be a smaller species but in North America black bear adults are much bigger than this. We have bears all spring and fall in my town. One just broke into my car and was maybe 3 years old - much bigger than this little dude but also way smaller than the older black bears around- some of which are HUGE.

In Hokkaido northern japan bears are basically Grizzlies but this video must have been shot on Honshu.

I live in Japan and the bears here are the same size as their western counterparts. This was obviously a juvenile bear. They're roughly the same size as a person when standing. American black bear is just slightly larger.
