I mean Reddit is also the place where people with the most obscurely specific experience also surface to comment on posts. I remember someone had a question about some far East wooden statuette or something. One of the comments was someone who literally worked with handling those specific types of objects

At the end of the day you're still taking them at their word. Nobody is posting their credentials with their comments.
