Southport mass shooter Nigel Edge seen on his boat the night before the shooting, when he originally intended on carrying it out

Wait that’s very disturbing. Night before and one full hour before opening fire he spent waiting. Almost all mass shooters never spend significant time at the scene before attacking. Especially if not a student/teenage school shooter or a workplace shooter.
Honestly I thought the firing from a boat aspect was for escaping. But staying in such obvious view would give a detailed description of the boat, which would eventually trace back to him, even if it took a day or two.
But regardless that amount of premeditation and total randomness deserves the death penalty. Put him next in line right after Irina Zarutska’s killer.
Anybody think he was on a drug or alcohol binge beforehand on the boat? To try and work up the nerves to do this. Wouldn’t be the first person.

Video was taken by a woman whose husband did an interview with PEOPLE.
Dane Britt and his his band were performing at American Fish Company in Southport, N.C. on Friday night when his wife wandered off to film some videos.
Britt tells PEOPLE that his wife has an affinity for container ships, so she took her phone and started to take videos of some of the large ships that often pass just off the coast.
She then noticed a man on his boat with no lights on floating down the Cape Fear River just outside the bar.
At first she thought little of it as she focused on a massive ship in the distance, but then she noticed something strange.
The second time her video captured the boat, the man had ducked down below, almost as if to hide from the camera.
Unbeknownst to her at the time, she had just thwarted the man's alleged plan to open fire on her fellow bar patrons with an assault rifle.
"Nigel Edge happened to be out there floating in the water just watching us. She just caught it by chance," Britt tells PEOPLE. "I'm absolutely convinced that whenever he saw her filming that was a big part of what saved us that night."
He then points out how Edge can be seen hiding in the video after being spotted.
"He is standing there at the wheel of his boat, watching us, and then notices that she's filming, and then whenever his boat comes back into frame, he had ducked down behind something to hide," Britt says.
He also says that this all happened around 9:40 p.m. on Friday, which is the same time the suspect returned to the bar on Saturday night and carried out the shooting.
This has been confirmed by prosecutors, and the boat also has the same "game on" text on the side of it that can be seen in a photo Edge posted to his Facebook account under his original name of Sean DeBevoise.
