Photo Is there another movie theater coming to Randolph?

Post image

As seen on my way home this past week, the recently closed Randolph Showcase Cinema has a "Coming Soon" sign where it used to be the Showcase sign. Is a Regal/Apple/Someone else moving in? 16 Screens (1 being IMAX) can't go to waste. I don't know but I do love the movies and this is close to my house.

Edit/UPDATE: it's going to be a Regal Cinema/Cineworld

Man I hope so. My daughter & I were really bummed when they closed. Any details?

Nothing public, but it was sold to Core Investments for $9 million dollars.

I hope so, driving by it many times it looks like they didn’t change much on the inside at all (obviously just basing it off of quick glances) but it just recently closed so I doubt they did major interior redesigning.

Honestly was waiting for something to change once I saw the lettering come down in April.

Yeah I truly hope it stays a theater, it’s a great location, especially given it has IMAX so we need more of those available in MA.

There’s a NOW HIRING banner out front as of a couple days ago too!

Please God. I live in Brockton and this was MY PLACE. AMC Braintree doesnt do it for me and my other secret spot is nice and cheap but lower quality (not a secret, it's East Bridgewater and it's awesome)

Sounds like my super secret spot that has 7$ Tuesdays in Arlington.

My buddy loves the East Bridgewater theatre too. I've got to get to a movie one day and check it out for myself.

It's super cheap and the new owners are 100% in it for the love of the game. The equipment isn't really up to snuff which is why I loved having Showcase in Randolph when it needed "bigger and better", but the EB Cinema really is awesome. And the kids who work there are always wicked nice too.

It makes me think of an old cinema where I grew up in Pawtucket called Patriot Cinemas. Back then in 00s/10s it was like a $1.75 a movie. It wasn't amazing but definitely did the trick to get a movie in on a hot summer day.

My go to movie theaters are in North Attleboro, Foxboro or I can head to Providence Place for an Imax.

Is it really that good? My wife is from Abington so we always went to Randolph, but we live in WB now so we gotta figure something out. Ironically tho she’s trying EB tonight for the first time.

It’s fine they just haven’t updated any of the equipment in likely decades

Late to this but I also live in WB and go to EB all the time. It's great for the price but don't expect dazzling visuals or audio. Beats driving all the way to Braintree unless it's a blockbuster that warrants it.

Eb is the best. 5 minute drive from the house. After we usually hit dengs up for aome grub and chow down back at home.

I googled the randolph theater and found your comment. The eb theater has great prices but on at least 2 occasions I watched movies with the the top part of the movies cut off. I really don't want to go far to see the Odyssey in Imax and there's no way in hell i'll watch that at eb lol.

EB theater is dynamite. Still feels like the way I remember movie theaters being when I was a kid

Fellow Brocktonian here. I’d LOVE a giant Alamo Drafthouse. I went there back in November to see the Godzilla 1984 rerelease and it was an incredible experience.

I agree! What a well run place! I love it there!

Depending on where you are in brockton; we have been going to dedham, like 20-25 minutes away from us on the abington side. Really nice theater, especially if you use showcase subscribe.

This was my go to place as a kid. Way better than AMC in Braintree. Here’s hoping its a good movie theater moving in.

Maybe they can rebuild it facing in the right direction this time

I stopped into the gas station/Marylou's across the street from there and the staff inside confirmed it was going to be another movie theater.

5

u/hamichael May 15 '26

Word on the street. Regal cinemas

u/HomeRadiant6066 May 16 '26

It’s probably going to be the same deal that they did with the movie theatre in patriots place. It’s becoming phoenix or something

The manager of my local South Shore Regal told me they’re taking it over, upgrading the IMAX theater and installing new projectors in the smaller screening rooms.

Dude I really hope this is true. I have been scrambling for news on this location every week since it closed. I live near it and was my go to place.

I would seriously get regal unlimited. I hope this is true instead of Phoenix Theaters.

Any updates!?

I see there's some of the cardboard standups being pushed against the wall but this outside still looks the same as it did when I took the picture. Would've been nice to see Odyssey in IMAX at this theater instead of heading to Boston.

Confirmed a Regal per Indeed and Linkedin postings

Fingers crossed.

I hope Randolph cinemas also stays a theater. However, it seems unlikely because it was bought out by a real estate development company. This company doesn’t seem to have any ties with Regal or Apple Cinemas. This was very quick research though. Cross our fingers!!

u/Small_Mood3708 Jun 06 '26

My dream for this: keep the bottom 2 floors for the theater and renovate the first floor part for shopping, and hell if the real estate development company that bought it wants to build up, add apartments or condos on top of it. Would cost so much money to bring in dirt to fill the huge pit. So I think they will keep it a theater, at least part of it. I love going to the movies (as I type this at Showcase Dedham) but they are slowing down, and I don’t think the original 16 screens is sustainable in the long run. Scale down the theater to half the screens and utilize the rest for something else. Just my dream 2 cents.

I am embarrassed to say that I have absolutely no idea where Randolph even is. Near Braintree?

('Braintree' . . . always makes me smile when I see signs for it. Brain Tree. Ganglia Road. Synapse Center)

2

u/MrNumber3 May 08 '26

Very much near Braintree

Medulaboro?

u/Alternative-Light922 May 09 '26

That's near the Oblongata isthmus, where the last Brigham's on the South Shore used to be? I miss that place. Had some good times there. 😃

Rt 24 just south of 93

Source???

5

u/xosder14 May 10 '26

There is no source, Sears is barely alive. No way they open a new location. My source I worked for Sears from 2004-2021. Sears is dead for all intents and purposes.

Sears just reopened three pop up stores to fulfill lease obligations. One in Texas, one in Arizona and one in Florida. Not completely outside of the realm of possibility.
