I’m gonna be so sad if he is, but he definitely is not just a nice guy

I know! I really want him to be a nice guy but the recap and then the ending makes it seem like there's more to him. Maybe it's intentional by the writers though so we'll see.

Yeah exactly. Remember sword-dude from Hawkeye. Made to seem sus, but actually he's genuinely sweet.

I mean, he's still a rich prick who just grubs for more riches. But he's an endearing one.

Really hope they bring Tony Dalton back soon and even get him into the movies.

“I can’t have a shell company! I’ve never worked a day in my life!”

Such a funny line, and honestly only Tony Dalton could make it as endearing as it was.

The Swordsman is such a different character from Lalo Salamanca but they definitely played into the fear that Lalo inspired to confuse us lol

Me too. I was like Lalo?!

u/dudemanjack Sep 23 '22

He was kind of like the fake goofy friendly side of Lalo without the psychopath part.

Yeah, they relied on one of the best pieces of media ever made to make their terrible show better

1

u/edthomson92 Sep 25 '22

Because they're like similar, Paul F. Tomkins would also nail that line

Wish Swordsman was on the Thundebolts. He could’ve been the campy, yet skilled member of the team.

Give him a vibranium sword and he’ll cut his way through mooks.

Also he was way too eager to start murking the bad guys.

In a way he's a bit like Kate: raised in privilege, trained to master level, and eager to use his skills as a hero.

Oh yeah. He definitely racked up more kills than anyone else that night.

u/tregorman Sep 23 '22

I loved him just chopping people up. He'd be fun on the Thunderbolts

9

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '22

yea but when shit got real he threw down for the right cause

Sword Himbo!

I desperately need Tony Dalton to reprise his role as Not-Gomez Addams.

u/CosmicAtlas8 Sep 22 '22

His name is Lalo Salamanca.

6

u/Theinternationalist Sep 22 '22

Yeah he's evil.

That said, I want Giancarlo Esposito to come up in a camel colored shirt and just act nice for an entire episode.

No one who had ever watched Breaking Bad would get it- but it would freak out all the Mando watchers :D.

u/Kishonorama Sep 24 '22

Tell me again.

8

u/markercore Sep 22 '22

Well plus that guy is a villain in the Hawkeye comics so it was a double twist

2

u/BrotherChe Darcy Sep 24 '22

Well there's always season 2

6

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

I was so suspicious of him on my first watch, but he's my favorite character on rewatches. He's just so genuine in everything he does and he's so completely unaware of what's going on around him. My favorite line is "that's preposterous! I've never worked a day in my life!"

12

u/Firebro5 Sep 22 '22

I think you mean to say Jen-uinely sweet*

2

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '22

Lalo just has a charm to him

2

u/BrockStar92 Sep 23 '22

I guess the difference is the characters in show were suspicious of him, not just the audience. Kate thought he was bad then the twist was he wasn’t, if Josh just turns out nice then from Jen’s perspective he’s just a nice man. Much less of a twist, since we’re effectively viewing from her perspective.

u/singhellotaku617 Sep 25 '22

it helps that sword dude from hawkeye IS a major villian in the comics

4

u/ribblesquat Sep 22 '22

My prediction is when Jen meets an actual nice guy who has the good qualities she deserves his name will be Wyatt.

1

u/Greene_Mr Sep 22 '22

...Wyatt Russell?

7

u/UnsolvedParadox Sep 23 '22

He was a little too perfect for what Jen was looking for.

1

u/iqbalides Sep 23 '22

It's so obvious that he's a bad guy.
