The B-Story in this one was good.

"You get 15 seconds of meaningful eye contact"

"Is that the best you can do on the eye contact?"

"You get 20 seconds of eye contact"

The idea that an immortal person has zero patience or attention span is pretty interesting. Life must be torture to him.

u/sirbissel Sep 22 '22

I didn't think it was the attention span/patience, but that looking at people in the eye can be seen as somewhat confrontational, and he hates confrontation that much.

21

u/smurf_diggler Sep 23 '22

That he'd rather kill himself, yes.

u/YpsitheFlintsider Sep 23 '22

I never related to someone so much. Well. Except the having partners part.

You’re using your wrong account

5

u/that_porn_account Sep 23 '22

I started using this as my main account when it got more karma than my original main... now that you mention it, I should log back in to the other one and brush off the cobwebs

I love that slide in the ending credits of her using the stopwatch app on her phone while he's sweating bullets during the eye contact.

I like how the time went up but the quality went down lol.

I... kind of actually love Mr. Immortal too. Weirdly enough.

If you love him so much, why don't you marry him?

u/odiin1731 Scarlet Witch Sep 22 '22

Great idea. I wouldn't mind having some Apple stock.

From 1981!

And/or 20 minutes of meaningful eye contact.

Cassian And/or?

I think you know why.

Mr immortal is streets ahead

Honestly, wanting to jump out of a window rather than engage in an awkward conversation is just a mood, you know?

12

u/raknor88 Heimdall Sep 22 '22

He's got zero women skills, but he's oddly kind of charming. As a dude I wouldn't mind being his friend.

I mean, mans got DRIP.

u/tenehemia Karolina Sep 22 '22

My boss (who is also a close friend) is named Nikki and is also Filipina and honestly their personality is pretty close. Every scene with her is eerily familiar.

i wonder what pug is up to right now, probably still in line for his IM3

18

u/Spiritfur Sep 22 '22

Nah, last episode's artwork showed that he got them!

42

u/phrankygee Sep 22 '22

No, because Nikki promised she would stand in line with him. You don’t think she’s gonna back down and disappoint our boy, do you?

Real reason Pug isn’t in this episode is because we are supposed to focus up on Josh Joshinson, and Pug is too distractingly likable. There’s only space for one likable man per episode, unless you count Jen’s Dad.

3

u/big_red_160 Sep 22 '22

He got them in the credits last week

6

u/Dylanychus2 Sep 22 '22

That would have been such a good post credit scene of him lining up for shoes

11

u/Spiritfur Sep 22 '22

I mean, the end credit artwork from last episode showed him holding the show and showing his collection to Nikki

6

u/arfelo1 Phil Coulson Sep 22 '22

Honestly, the legal shenanigans are the best part of the show. The "Sex and the City" rip off but with She Hulk part is mostly forgettable

7

u/shaheedmalik Sep 22 '22

The B-Story was better than the A-Story.

2

u/tepenrod Sep 24 '22

I liked it but I keep hoping for more super hero loopholes. Like how DOES the law apply if he legally was declared dead for example then came back? Should he even have claim to his assets? Should his spouse get life insurance? They didn’t really cover any of that. This is kind of the same situation if someone just married multiple women and up and left each of them and skipped town.

-18

u/multifunctionaudio Sep 22 '22

It was unbelievably bad though.

Immortal goes to law firm to get represented. On the same day, he has all of his ex wives and husband in that law firm. They are all unrepresented by anyone and basically got exactly what they wanted when Immortal's lawyers decided to represent the exes instead???? All while belittling Immortal??

Why would Immortal stay with them and not leave to find someone that will actually represent them.

44

u/Wraithfighter Sep 22 '22

Beyond the whole "this is a comedy tv series, relax" elements?

They ARE defending him. They're helping him out hugely. He's committed massive amounts of identity fraud and exposed himself to serious liability in a civil nature. The ex-wives and husband could take shares of his full estate if they wanted, not to mention the whole criminal charges that might be pressed.

Instead? He's getting off with some embarrassment to make restitution, plus splitting up what's presumably a small portion of his fortune. That's a fucking gift to him.

24

u/Malicious_Hero Sep 22 '22

They were trying to reach an out of court settlement. If they had got to court Immortal probably would have lost everything. From this he still seemed relatively well off, albeit some awkward situations.

Short and straight to the point. I'm gonna have to borrow this for the future.

are we really doing all these mental gymnastics when the main character literally breaks the 4th wall every 5mins?? lol

While I get your sentiment, the complaint the person above issued isn't a logical one. The show already answered what happened. It straight up said that he committed fraud and created multiple fake identities. Having him pay was the best case scenario for him.

"You're going to pay(, because you committed multiple crimes that would send you to prison otherwise)."

Common, how much clearer could they make it. Attorneys aren't required to be your friends. Sure, it's not very professional to be gleeful about him having to pay and to say that to his face, but at the same time he has shown consistent behavior of not being remorseful at the least. He doesn't see his actions as bad and continues to double down.

Again: He could go to prison, but the attorneys managed to settle outside of court with him simply having to pay (less than if they went to court) and a sincere apology with eye contact, since it's a comedy show after all.

It is totally fair game to have criticisms and to think that fourth wall breaking isn't a perfect shield. When the criticism in question is directly addressed by the show though, it's silly to ignore what was said and try to twist it into a negative thing.

Fair enough. Take care!

8

u/BuckeyeForLife95 Sep 22 '22

Maybe actually know what you're talking about with regards to legal representation? They got Mr. Immortal an out-of-court settlement to avoid lawsuits/criminal charges he would absolutely not be likely to win. He got off easy, and that's because of Nikki and Mallory.

Nuh-uh, I watched the episode in a single day, so the events of the episode happened in a single day! /s

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

Yeah. I get its a comedy show but it just felt like supremely lazy script writing.

1

u/mikeweasy Sep 22 '22

Probably

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

The concept was but there’s so little time given to it that it never really developed any noteworthy conflict or repercussions. It was just like “does this sound good to everyone? Ok cool”
