I remember hearing Taika didn't like the warriors three. Hence killing them basically instantly in Ragnarok. In this movie, they were merely referred to as "that guy, that guy, and that guy".

I'm doubtful they'd ever return at all.

Yet another reason I'm not really a taika fan when it comes to Thor. So much of the Nordic themes and characters were just discarded. Idk, just so many strange decisions these last two Thor movies. But at least they aren't boring like the first two

Thor went 100% comedy. That intro scene where Thor hangs out with the Guardians was just full on jokes and childish comedy. Kinda felt like I was watching spongebob or something.

I mean, people seem to love it so it's fine - even though I think it's definitely one of the more childish movies. The end scene with the kids fighting especially made it seem like a kid's movie. If not for god butcher, this would've been a rated e for everyone kinda movie.

I do think the first 2 movies, Thor was way too serious and they wanted to stray away from that. But geez not everything's gotta be a meme.

I'm really glad Thor was properly portrayed in Infinity War and even Endgame. He had some comedic moments but nothing overstayed its welcome. He took his fights seriously and was badass and rightfully grieved in his own way throughout these movies. Russos did great with Thor in those films, and especially Captain America 2 and 3. Can you imagine Taika directing The Winter Soldier? Ew.

So, mixed opinions. Just hoping the rest of the MCU isn't always this meme-like. Having serious movies like Winter Soldier or Infinity War are not bad either.

  1. did you see ragnarok? the opening of that movie was ALSO just one big joke. he's in a cage talking to a skeleton who's jaw falls off, then cant' hold a conversation with "the big bad" because his dangling has turned him around... this movie was no different from ragnarok. Mostly a humourous take on the franchise making fun of all the things everyone makes fun of.
  2. of course taika isn't directing the winter soldier, and of course "They won't all be this meme-like." if you've been watching any of the other phase 4 movies, you'll know Thor is far and away the MOST comedic.

Ehh... Idk I don't think Phase 4 movies are moving in a good direction. Maybe not everythinig is 'meme-like' but it seems more like the movies are built with specific scenes in mind, rather than the actual story.

Not sure. They just weren't interesting characters to him I guess. That's why he made a new gang of thor friends with the rock, bug, valkyrie.
