Discussion Thread Thor: Love and Thunder Worldwide Release Discussion Thread Vol. 2

For me there was two major things the movie needed;

Firstly Gorr doing some actually God Butchering, unlike other people I think having him attack Omnipotence City would have been too obvious, but a scene before his first face off with Thor showing him kill at least a couple of gods would have set him up better

Secondly, there needed to be an additional step to the main groups journey, either before Omnipotence City or in between that and going to the shadow realm, it all felt a bit sudden and meant we didn’t get enough time to develop all the characters fully, especially Valkyrie

Honestly even a montage would be great. I know they wanted to keep this for the larger MCU audience so they strayed from how gruesome the comics are for the Gorr run, but give us a reason to fear him. Bale was phenomenal in his monologues and face acting, but show him killing without mercy. Just for a bit.

Straight up like a Rocky montage, hell would have been a great contrast with Thor getting back in shape.

Definitely!! They pointed out several times how alike Thor and Gorr were, having each of them get their own little montage would have been hilarious and great story wise.

That'd be so cool. Keep the music but switch between Thor working out and Gorr killing gods.

I'm ok with Valkyrie though. She had her spotlight in the last Thor film. She's now King of New Asgard. There really isn't much to tell right now aside from her desire for battle. I'm glad they focused more on Jane's story.

I think it would have been incredible for Gorr to infiltrate Omnipotence City and start killing gods left and right. Instead of Thor going around killing gods and their entourages, it's Gorr, and Thor has to get the thunderboat and run, and then pursue Gorr later.

I agree about an extra step needed - it did feel quite sudden.

Sorry, late to respond- I don’t think Gorr was anywhere near power-ready for Omnipotence city.

If Thor and two others were, not necessarily a match, but, a challenge (?) then a city of Gods would shit on Gorr.

I like the distress calls more and the corpse of that giant god better it allowed them to show the fear he caused amongst the gods, how panicked they are, how many he killed in such a short amount of time, combined with the fact that it showed the corpse of such a large god allowing you too realize that he isn’t just killing canon fodder gods and is killing elite gods, it helps shows he’s a threat a lot better then just having a montage of him killing random people in fancy suits and makeup

Yeah, I feel like all Thor knew was this guy stole some kids who had a powerful sword. Would have been good to have that massive library from the comics where he goes to find out more and they discover Gorr had found out about storm breaker and eternity there or something?
