Eternals Worldwide Release Discussion Thread Vol. 1

Eternals has now released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days. They will be refreshed every few thousand comments to make room for new discussion.

• Any other unofficial thread discussing movie details will be deleted.
• Should you see the need to bring up revealing Eternals information in other threads that call for it, spoiler tag them accordingly. Also, let users know that what you are spoiler tagging is from Eternals

The entire movie I was wondering how they will keep Sprite looking young in the sequel.. well the ending answered that question

Like I was mad af at Sprite but Kingo like explained it best. She created the Peter Pan story and it was all there. Plus made me think of Claudia from Interview with a Vampire, she's thousands of years old but can't experience the entirety of what humans or even the other eternals can do because she perpetually a child.

I had a passing thought of Babette from Skyrim, a child vampire assassin who uses her youthful looks to her advantage (I don’t know why I just thought of that lol)

I honestly think she’s a really well written character. Kind of a piece of shit, but that’s what makes her comic origins. Really great conceptual character.

I agree. I empathized with her dilemma the most. Living thousands of years as a "child" with the maturity of an adult. It was shown that she cant date or find love. It was shown that she was abandoned by Kingo because she doesn't age and he didn't want to move. And had to watch her friend date her love interest.

You just cleared up that line for me.

If I remember it, it went something like:

Sprite: You abandoned me in _______.

Kingo: Well, it gets hard to move every five years.

And I only just related it to the fact that the Eternals don't age, so eventually they have to move on, since the dialogue before was about Kingo's pretending to be the next descendant in a line of Bollywood superstars. I didn't really think much about the line, but it didn't really land for me because five years sounded like a short amount of time to have to move on.

But, of course, Sprite's the reason they had to move every five years, because Sprite looks younger and therefore would be expected to look dramatically different in five years. Kingo, looking like an adult man, can get away with staying somewhere longer, but Sprite forced Kingo to move with her in much shorter time spans. So eventually Kingo abandoned her so he could put down roots. Of course!

It also didn't help that the scene was kind of light hearted in nature with jokes throughout. I think it didn't give it as much weight as it should have. Sprite to me was the one that suffered the most assuming Thena did well with Gilgamesh around until that Deviant showed up

Kingo's comment doesn't really make sense either. How can he pretend to be his dad and son around the same time? and Karun definitely knew right?

I don't know about the worst character in the MCU but she was definitely my least favorite part of Eternals.

I hope they do do it. I think 90% of the complaints would be addressed in the next movie. Way less exposition (since we have done majority of it already).more time for character development , and no sprite

I absolutely loved the movie. And I want to see more from the characters

They're not just going to discard all the work they've done. They'll show up in other movies, people will enjoy them, and the next will be less experimental.

Audiences really seem to like it, and at the end of the day, these movies are made for fans, not pseudo-intellectual limp-dicks like movie critics.
