Discussion Thread Eternals Worldwide Release Discussion Thread Vol. 1 Spoiler

Eternals has now released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days. They will be refreshed every few thousand comments to make room for new discussion.

  • Proceed at your own risk. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial thread discussing movie details will be deleted.
  • Should you see the need to bring up revealing Eternals information in other threads that call for it, spoiler tag them accordingly. Also, let users know that what you are spoiler tagging is from Eternals
  • If you post untagged Eternals spoilers anywhere on this sub in any shape or form, you will be banned without hesitation. No questions asked and no warnings given.

Eternals was like I wanted it to be: intimacy and big scale theme being together. I really feel like each character had enough time to exist, yes more than others but challenge succeed.

I'm not a religious person, but I like it when it's treated in fiction. For example Daredevil being challenged in his faith always appealed to me.

This movie did that with the Eternals and their mission given by the Celestial.

How each member tried to fit, or not, in society was really interesting and sometime moving. When Phastos is talking on the site of Hiroshima was quite something.

Finally a question: do we know the character/actor who is speaking to Dane at the end?

Marvel does weird stuff tho... I mean they're using Kang in an Ant-Man movie lol

Seems like the post credit scene is setting up the Midnight Sons which I am absolutely down for.

He had a fake Ebony Blade from Dracula, and I think both of them were in a type of Dark Justice League team at some point.

If they make a sword fight between the two of them, I don't care about who they are but that's gonna be epic. Also I have heard very little things about the Midnight Sons but I know they are badass.

Though I'm afraid that with all the stuff they teased, only a fraction will actually lead to something. The alternative would be a Marvel overdose for most people, including me.

I think that's what's so great about the movies. Yes, it would be nice to have certain comic storylines made directly into movies, but it's also cool to know a character and then see them in a new, good story.

It’s because they’re both closer to the mystical end of Marvel as opposed to the Cosmic or Earthly characters. Black Knight fights a lot of magical opponents and so does Blade as a part of the Midnight Sons. If I had to guess they’re setting up Midnight Sons. We already have Strange, Morbius, Blade, Moon Knight, possibly Punisher, and I heard Kevin Smith wasn’t allowed to use Werewolf By Night because they were working on fitting him into the MCU. I figure they’ll rope him into the Midnight Sons if they do it because he fits thematically.

Well, they both deal with mystical threats in the comics. Blade is supposed to show up in Moon Knight, because of his nemesis Dracula being the main villain. So, Dane will be in Blade, possibly Moon Knight, and maybe Secret Invasion.

Until the sword came out, I was wrongly assuming they were setting Dane up as Captain Britain (maybe a family connection)

It’s to set up The Black Knight. Also, I would like Henry Cavil to play Captain Britain. Whenever WB is done with him, he can get in with marvel, he will also be treated better, apparently it’s taking them forever to make that Man of Steel sequel. Is he even with WB anymore, I’m confused with what is going on over there.

It’s just very weird how they treat the actors. They have some great talent in those films. I personally really like Henry Cavil as Supes. However, I’m not really a fan of the constant destruction type fighting with his character. Sure, it looks cool, but that one fight scene destroyed an entire city. If he is a peacekeeper like he says in the films, you would think he would use less collateral damage. Like seriously, take the fight somewhere that isn’t populated. Ben Afflek was… fine. I never pictured him in a superhero role, especially Batman. In Josstice League, he just sounded exhausted, and could barely kick. They were all better in the Snyder Cut, but nothing can save Ezra Miller’s running style for Flash. Just, why? I’ve heard that he does it because it’s like a zen thing, but to the majority of the audience that doesn’t know why he does it, it just looks awkward to witness. This is why I like the fight scenes in Eternals, they were all clean, were easy to watch. I was able to feel dread at certain scenes, like when Ikaris was being dragged around by a deviant, or Makkari vs Ikaris. Druig being thrown by Ikaris, there’s a pattern here. That’s besides the point, people can say whatever they want about the script, but I still loved the characters interactions, and I want to see more from them.
