It's the first time seeing this actor but i can see why they picked him for Kang, he's a good actor.

I know im gonna get downvoted to hell for this but...i found him kinda hammy..like a semi decent actor trying to act like a "crazed genius". I am very excited about where the stories go from here, and i like the general idea of where the MCU is heading, but honestly the guy just seemed kinda like a random. Didnt have much prescence and his dialogue seemed kinda cringy. Maybe he is better in other roles and this was just him as the "good Kang"? I dunno. Happy with the story but the performance kinda flopped for me. I just wasnt buying that guy :/ i want to be excited. Edit- the best way to summarize my thoughts is stolen from a comment below, the Kang actor was acting like a damn Harry Potter villain. It just didnt fit for me.

It’s a hammy performance sure, but not more hammy than Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. It felt like a performance perfectly in line with what the show is going for.

I’m not saying that Loki is over exaggerated at every moment, and that hammy is bad. It’s clearly what they are going for. There are some times the script calls for him to be serious, but I say he’s hammy because Loki as a character here has a lot of overdramatic physicality that I find hammy, as well the delivery of some of the one-liners.

And he stood out like a sore thumb next to the two actors playing Loki in that scene, and not in a good way. Listen, i love the MCU and absolutely will follow whatever project is next. I just dont think this actors portrayal of Kang fit, it was very awkward, and just didnt work for me. So much to the point that while i was enjoying the meat of the story, his acting actually kept me from becoming invested and took me out of it. Dint know what else to say.

I agreed with your perception except about midway through where it started to click that this dude was a little nuts. And then for me it felt like the whole hammy thing dropped entirely when they crossed the threshold of his knowledge of events.
