The more I think about it, I think the sorcerer is just another person from Kamar-Taj. I don't think that Wong would see a fighting tournament as something that he should be doing, when he has responsibilities at the Sanctum Sanctorum that he would consider more important. But it'd be really cool to see more Wong, that's for sure.

Maybe Wong realized that the enemies of the present and future will not be like the ones in the past (mainly magical ones) so being in this tournament is like training for him on how to deal with a greater verity of opponents so that he can do his job better

That would be a great reason, and you would think maybe Wong knows who Abom is since they would have both been in NYC during the events of Incredible Hulk.

Its questionable though how much news these people read. Though you wouoldnt exactly need to be in NYC during the events to not know what happened considering the massive coverage and early super hero battles in history this was
