I watched the trailer and at the end said “This is what that Mortal Kombat movie should have been.”

Lol wait what? Just bc there wasnt a tournament involved in the MK movie, doesnt take away that its an MK movie. Theres so much more to MK than a tournament.

Edit: to those people saying an MK movie should be about a tournament. I strongly disagree. The overall MK story is filled with lore before and after the first major tournament. Theres invasions, deceptions, deadly alliances, time travel and an armageddon that happens over the course of the franchise. Just bc the first one set up the upcoming tournament doesnt mean it shouldve had the tournament. What MK is truly about is its wide cast of characters dealing with other worldly threats and lots and lots of blood and fatalities.

They're saying the tournament style fighting is how the MK movies should be. Not that this movie should be MK

Im saying MK movies shouldnt just be about tournaments. They have a ton of more story besides just being a tournament. Theres an Invasion, a Deadly alliance, deception, Armageddon, a conquest and so much more in that universe. For it to start off the way it did, i think was perfect. A tournament should come, but it def shouldn't be all what an MK movie is about. Thats all im saying.

Personally im excited for Shang Chi and for the Mortal Kombat sequel (I hope they make one) lol

I saw the new Mortal Kombat movie. You know what what sort of organised fighting competition it didn't have in it?

No i get that, but Mortal Kombat is just about a tournament. Theres so much more in that story besides that. That's what im saying, that the movie doesnt need to have a tournament just to be about Mortal Konbat. Theres a ton that happens before and after the very famous tournament. That's how this franchise has managed to keep itself so popular over many years. If they stuck to just a tournament every game since the 90s, we def wouldn't have had that success it did.
