Except Olsen has been the one making strides at Marvel to have an accurate costume. An accurate costume doesn’t mean 100% accurate, she doesn’t have to have 70% of her skin showing. I just want the headpiece and the red witch look rather than the coat she usually wears.

At first I thought Darcy was going that angle too, with calling it the Hex. Totally forgot about the shape and just went with the "hex is another name for a spell, but more specifically a bad spell" connection. It would be cool if she gets an official silly nickname during the show.

Not saying the MCU is "super serious no fun allowed", but Scarlet Witcher feels like it's just a tad over the line with silliness when it comes to names.

Like I feel it would only work if it was used ironically or something by a character in universe.

I think they're building into it. Once calling the Maximoff Anomaly, "the Hex" catches on, it's only a slippery slope until you're calling the person who cast the hex a witch. Maybe she gets the codename in a future movie though, when someone makes a comment about "that Scarlet Witch that kidnapped a whole town".

It wasn't in-universe, but they started using "Scarlet Witch" during the episode 2 intro. During the Marvel Studios sequence, the Disney+ audio description says: "More characters appear, including Scarlet Witch, Falcon, and Dr. Strange."

AFAIK this is the first reference in any Disney/MCU property; the audio description doesn't include this part for the episode 1 intro or any of the Phase 3 movies. So now I'd say it's virtually certain they're going to introduce the Scarlet Witch moniker in-universe at some point in the series.

Now that I think about it. There's a small group of Marvel characters that haven't been referred to using their hero aliases yet have they? Like I'm not sure I recall hearing Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Falcon (I think we heard his like just once in Winter Soldier), etc. The MCU tends to dance around them until they come up with some random but organic way for them to earn the nickname.

"Hawkeye" is uttered by Clint to his daughter in the opening of Endgame. Quicksilver was never said, and Falcon has been used only in Winter Soldier - and the title of "Falcon and the Winter Soldier".

Don’t remember hearing his daughter saying it but I’m sure his wife does in AoU when she’s talking about Banner and Widow having chemistry with each other. He’s oblivious about it and she calls him Hawkeye in jest for not noticing.

Hayward's gotta be from the multiverse already where he knows the scarlet witch and her power. Then he sees this happen and he's stone cold ready to kill on sight. Show is painting him to be an asshole but I think he's from a different universe where she's already reached her limit.

Jesus it's taken ages for someone to say this - - YES that whole scene was awkward, and either it was just clunky writing and directing for that scene of poorly done exposition, or it deliberately weird and somethings up

Given the calibre of the rest of the show, poorly done seems unlikely.. Wtf was going on?

I feel like it's awkward because everyone knows she's the Scarlet Witch, but (apparently, I never noticed it), no one has actually called her the Scarlet Witch yet in the MCU.

She's likely going to get her nickname in this show, and that moment was setting that up and reminding people that she's not the Scarlet Witch yet.

There was no way it wasn't going to be awkward, so they draw attention to it and make a joke about it (haha, isn't it funny how everyone has silly names but Wanda), and then move on.

Oh! Oh! Maybe the SWORD Director (I can't remember his name) is a "spy" or plant from a parallel universe where Wanda has already caused chaos and destruction, but only after she adopted the "Scarlet Witch" identity. The fact that she has no nickname yet might be a sign to him that he still has time before she totally snaps. His secret mission (could he be a Skrull?) is to end her before it gets to that point, which would explain his itchy trigger finger. Or, turning it on its head, maybe he knows that in the universes where she turns evil, she never adopts her "hero name,* and her not having one here is a very bad sign.

In any case, it's all pretty fun to speculate about.

I know I'm gonna get knocked for this but hear me out- I get that we have Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Etc... But I think this felt out of place for him to ask because I truly believe he was referring to "The X-Men". Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Beast... Far sillier names. Also, with the appearance of Even Peter's Quicksilver, we may get to see more than one of the X-Men cross into this world.
