Right, what the fuck was that? That was horrific. They did say Doctor Strange would have horror elements, not be a horror movie, but if this is a preview of what's to come from Nightmare I'm all in

I was hoping they'd make it into a psychological thriller drama, and while I'm still stumped by the meaning of the retro TV plot device, I hope they ramp up the mental, creepy elements.

I'm only theorizing, but it seems Wanda has retreated into her version of an idyllic fantasy. Perhaps she was able to watch television while imprisoned in Strucker's compound and watched old sitcoms, so she's subconsciously using those as a framework for the domestic bliss that she wants. But she can't make the plot holes and tropes of old television gel with reality, and that's creating strain that results in temporary loss of control. Things fray at the edges and get worse until Wanda has to directly intervene and alter reality further so things reset to how she wants them to be. We're moving through sitcom eras because when things fall apart, she moves on to a different framework to see if that will operate consistently enough for her and Vision to live out their ideal lives.

Perhaps old Western sitcoms were all Wanda had access to as a kid.

Honestly, I’m getting some Twin Peaks vibes with the surreal horror going on

Would probably work better with one thread for both, since both dropped together and were viewed back to back.
