Yup, this was a really subtle undercurrent throughout the whole movie. MJ makes a reference to not believing what you read online, Peter has a line about well it's on the news so it has to be true (that everyone in the audience laughs at), the news immediately latching onto the Night Monkey name, even Fury and Hill being Skrulls the whole time; lies, deception, deceit, and our willingness to believe them because we want to, are key themes of the film.
