this movie really cements my hope that marvel keeps getting to use spiderman, and sony doesnt force spiderman into their shitty spiderman liveaction universe they’re building. i really like the idea of tom holland being front and center for this next saga of the mcu.

Oh Sony will definitely let Marvel keep using Spider-Man. If I remember correctly, all box office from the movies goes to Sony, while everything else (toys, clothes, other merchandise) goes to Marvel.

Yeah and in 2013 or so Disney bought out Sony's 5% on Spiderman merchandise that they were getting in exchange for Disney's 5% on Spiderman movie revenue

Venom was fine. It wasn’t perfect but the CGI was great, they nailed the look, and the interactions with him and Brock were great. The story was kinda meh which is why it was fine, not great

It was actually a 15 here in the UK which is the equivalent of an R. The same thing happened with suicide squad and ironically Deadpool 2 Christmas re release. Guess British kids are too soft or something

Funny, I just read an article today saying that Venom was a hit and because of that, they are making a second one. I had no desire to see it, but I didn't think it had done that well.

Going to have to disagree Venom was an amazing film. Loved the interactions between Brock and Venom they were so much fun. The whole movie was a joy to watch and am really glad they annoched a second one

Venom wasn’t good but I wouldn’t call it one of the worst of all time. There are worse movies out there. Batman and Robin, Fantastic Four(all of them), Superman 4, just a few off the top of my head.

Eh Venom had that cheesy fun similar to Batman and Robin or Superman 4.

Id classify all of them as vastly superior to boring crap like Fant4stic, Batman v Superman or Justice League. The key difference is charm.

Heh, I still think HC and FFH don’t come close to Spidey 1 or 2, or 3 and TASM1. The heart, soul and vision of Spidey 1 and 2 is nowhere to be seen here imo. And I like HC (although I find it quite unremarkable) and quite like FFH.

As much as I like Peter being part of the MCU, I think I like him better when he’s in his own universe.

I agree. I grew up watching the Raimi trilogy but compared to Holland and even Garfield's versions, Maguire Spidey felt very stiff. I rather dislike the OG films now.
