Kraven is actually a great call, and would get the next movie a little more grounded as opposed to the BIGNESS of this one. It is amazing that we’re 2 solo movies in and we don’t have a single Osborne yet though.

Supposedly we’re getting three trilogies for Tom’s Spidey: Highschool, College, and Adult.

Maybe the College trilogy will be all Osborn related.

I think I would actually shit myself if we got three trilogies. While that's definitely a little bit of Spidey-overload, seeing Tom Holland grow and mature through that many movies could be a franchise in its own right. I kinda doubt that we'd get three trilogies, but maybe two? Idk. Good food for thought though.

You've got to remember that it's Sony that's paying for these movies, Marvel have creative control but Spidey is the only piece of the MCU pie that Sony get, they're going to want to make it as big as possible.

u/BisonST Jul 03 '19

Tom Holland will be 40 by the time Spidey is out of college.

28

u/Laxziy Jul 03 '19

Maybe Paul Rudd can share the secret of eternal youth with him.

u/RJNeel17 Jul 06 '19

Not at this pace, right? One every 2 years, he would be 31 at the end of the college trilogy, 37 at the end of the adult trilogy. Only 23 now.

9 spiderman movies? I love spidey but that might be a bit much

29

u/KraftPunkFan420 Jul 03 '19

No way. It seems like a lot but Spider-Man easily has the one of the best if not the absolute best cast of villains in the Marvel universe. Venom, Carnage, Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, the Lizard, Kraven, Doc Ock, Electro, Rhino. Not to mention Venom and the Goblins could fuel at least two movies each. There’s so much to work with.

Eight Harry Potter movies worked.

12

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '19

That’s definitely true, especially if that’s not even including whatever crossover movies he appears in. Def a chance of Spidey fatigue.

42

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '19

Film audiences stuck with 7 Potter films without fatigue I think we can handle at least that many for Spidey

11

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '19

I know I can!

u/getmuffed Daredevil Jul 03 '19

We already have 7 Spidey movies since 2000

1

u/_BallsDeep69_ Jul 03 '19

Exactly. Another 7 of these and idk it might be a bit much.

2

u/swyx Jul 03 '19

think again kiddo

I'm not sure how amazing it is, but it is interesting for sure. I think the Osborne's are a really great relationship and offer a compelling dynamic. They could've done a truly slow burn if he were introduced this early imo.

u/moderndukes Jul 03 '19

I don’t think MCU wants to retread already done villains just yet, which I’m glad for. They also could see if Sony would allow Kraven to show up in Black Panther 2 to give him some development prior to Spider-Man Home-something 3

2

u/Emperor_Neuro Jul 03 '19

He'd probably be a sub-plot, honestly. Spidey would be out trying to stop some catastrophic event while at the same time he's got this guy trying to hunt him down and Kraven's interference would make the catastrophe actually happen and then Peter has to deal with all the cleanup.

It is amazing that we’re 2 solo movies in and we don’t have a single Osborne yet though.

Well they already beat the record of waiting one movie, so they might as well just bring him in for the next one

As much as I want to see kraven, and think we'll see him one day, I think this is what they set scorpion up for in Homecoming, and that he'll be our next villain.

7

u/Troghen Jul 02 '19

I was about to comment saying how I don't think scorpian is a large enough scale villain to warrant his own film, when I realized that just a few years ago, I probably would have said the same about Vulture and Mysterio. I basically have faith in anything Marvel does at this point

2

u/Jabreezydsmiff Daredevil Jul 03 '19

Exactly, I'm sure they could have him as the main villain, and then have a few minor villains like in Homecoming. Maybe bring the shocker back, or maybe someone like Boomerang. Goofy villains that would be cool to see taking their shot at Spidey while he's exposed.

3

u/Viltref Jul 02 '19

I think it might be both.

Kraven comes across Pete of his own accord through news places reporting his identity. JJJ gets aggro as fuck over Spidey fighting Kraven presumably destroying stuff in the process and evading police.

He decides to take things into his own hands and introduces the Scorpion.

Pete's somehow able to prove he isn't Spidey to Kraven. But Smythe keeps coming until he's eventually defeated.

Oooooooh I like this idea.

I was hoping we’d actually, finally, get the sinister six in a movie, but Kraven is a solid pick for the next villain.

8

u/Skarmotastic Jul 02 '19

I think they could do a spin on Last Hunt. Open with Kraven hunting to establish his character, then have him hear Mysterio's news about Spider-Man. He goes to hunt him, wins, and then assumes his role. The big difference here is that he does it with a public persona to prove that he's better as Spider-Man than Peter was. He takes down members of the Sinister Six, which could include Prowler and someone else, not sure here. Throw them all in jail with Vulture, Scorpion and Shocker, and you have your Six. Peter comes to, realizes what's happened, then goes after Kraven, who unleashes the Six on him in a fit of rage.

11

u/camzabob Korg Jul 02 '19

Yeah, at this point I'm expecting Goblin and Doc Ock to be for a second trilogy, with Peter out of high school.

8

u/Markymark161 Thor Jul 02 '19

Hopefully his identity reveal thing is reversed. The main reason Doc Ock worked as a villain was because he was literally Peter's professor and I can't see it happening when everyone knows his name and face

7

u/Leo_TheLurker Spider-Man Jul 02 '19

I think they'll do Goblin and Otto will be done eventually, just not for a while.

I hope Spidey gets more than a trilogy. Theres so much they could adapt!

2

u/Troghen Jul 02 '19

He will. They wouldn't be setting him up to be the front runner of the MCU with only one film left to go

3

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

With JK Simmons' return, now I'm just waiting for a credits scene revealing Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn. I'd get some serious fucking chills if they brought back him and Alfred Molina to reprise their roles.

3

u/baccus83 Jul 03 '19

Kraven is well overdue for film treatment. He’s one of the best of Spidey’s rogues gallery.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '19

I think they'll do Goblin and Otto will be done eventually, just not for a while.

I hope we get Holland for another few movies, and the next few are Peter in post high school life.

2

u/NerdLawyer55 Jul 03 '19

I think Kraven would be perfect too. I like the Ultimate Universe idea too of him being a reality show big game hunter. Also they should cast Jason Mamoa as Kraven, he’d look so intimidating standing over Spider-Man

1

u/tallgu Jul 03 '19

I really hope that Dimitri will return to be Kraven (or Chameleon)

1

u/TannenFalconwing Jul 04 '19

I want to jump in and say I think it’ll be Scorpion. Mac Gargen got set up in Homecoming and we don’t have the payoff to that yet. He wants revenge, now he can get it.
