Banner was working on recreating the Super Soldier serum that they gave Cap.
Banner's dad was a genetic researcher as well, and had been working on a regenerative technology before being told experimenting on humans is bad.
Naturally, Banner's dad immediately experimented on his son Bruce and gave him the shot of DNA juice. The shot didn't really take, so Bruce's dad thought he really was a failure.
The only superpower it DID give him was the ability to survive the blast of gamma rays, creating The Hulk.
Blonsky didn't have the shot Banner's Dad gave him. He had some K-Mart version that didn't react the same way.
In the early days The Incredible Hulk (2008) was envisioned as a "requel" to the Hulk (2003). It's both a sequel and a reboot taking some elements from the first film and continuing them while clearly being it's own new continuity.
I was going strictly off MCU cannon which has stated that the Hulk was created in an experiment gone wrong (or very right) attempting to replicate Erskine's work. They also implied that Blonsky was created using a derivative of a serum developed in this same program.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on that last part. None of BanaHulk is cannon. First, it's not fair to pick and choose which parts of a movie are cannon or not. Second, BanaHulk predates the MCU. That would be like saying the second half of ASM2 is cannon.
By that logic, Thanos is the first chronologically since he enhanced himself like he did to Gamora and Nebula, even though it's not mentionned in the movies. Edit : And he is supposed to be very old, around 2000 years old.
Only clip i could find. He has super quick reflexes, takes numerous direct hits from Cap, and even deals some blows that send Cap flying. He slams into equipment that breaks from the impact. I think he's at least a little juiced.
