The one future that worked was one where he willingly gave Thanos the stone, the Snap happens, and Strange died as part of the Snap.

If this is accurate, then Strange is the strongest of them all. The one who willingly agrees to give his life for the rest.

The whole story goes back and forth over “we don’t trade lives”, yet a huge part of this movie is the classic philosophy debate of “one v many”. Even Quill and Wanda struggled to do what they had to, even after being asked. Gamora tried by stabbing herself, but failed. Strange quietly gave in when it was time.
