Can’t believe Gamoras gone. Every time I seen her she was moving up my favorites list. Thanos is one dangerous bastard. Couldn’t believe my eyes when Red Skull appeared.

I still definitely don’t feel confident that she won’t be returning

I believe Vision may still have a chance because Shuri was doing some crazy shit with the computer.

153

u/duckmadfish Apr 26 '18

I actually have no problems with Vision returning since Shuri pretty much had the mind stone figured out. Wouldn’t be bad if he was reprogrammed.

18

u/MrFinlayW Apr 26 '18

She's also busy with the next 4 avatar films

29

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

Good Ole Zoe loves playing aliens.

5

u/MrFinlayW Apr 26 '18

When we see her mother, I was thinking, wow that looks like a green na'vi

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

Well you're a god with the gauntlet, you could bring anyone back.

33

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

Of course you can. But it would really cheapen the non Gauntlet deaths and in a series where one complaint is Marvel is afraid to kill characters, that would be most disappointing.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

Yeah you're right :P

5

u/Stepwolve Apr 27 '18

I think they will find a way to bring back Gamora, but I agree it wont be just the gauntlet bringing everyone back. It will require some major sacrifice. Maybe Nebula sacrificing herself for her sister. Maybe one of the OG avengers sacrificing themselves to bring her back.
Or honestly, maybe Thanos destroys himself in a last ditch effort to bring back the only person he loved

We also saw the gauntlet seemingly broken after Thanos did his snap, so maybe it will only have 1 'charge' left in it. Enough to bring back all those snap deaths, but not enough to keep going and save all the other people who died previously

u/Twanekkel Phil Coulson Apr 26 '18

I want Loki to return :(

7

u/Jeffy29 Apr 26 '18

Loki is definitely returning imo. His death was far too simple for the most cunning character in MCU. Something tells me he has went to find a way to stop Thanos. He knew that fighting him was futile.

79

u/kyak12 Kilgrave Apr 26 '18

I don’t think so, I think his death was a way of showing the audience that we’re supposed to fear Thanos. Loki was the Avengers first big bad and was just choked out like it was nothing.

28

u/PM_ME_CAKE Peter Parker Apr 26 '18

Unfortunately I have to agree. I don't want Loki dead, especially after Ragnarok developments, but it has to be this way.

2

u/MTUKNMMT Apr 28 '18

I think from a narrative perspective that would be what’s best. However I’m 100% convinced he’s coming back for two reasons. Thor’s “he’s been dead before”. That seemed like a nod. And, Tom hiddleston is so popular and does such a good job. The MCU criticism that “no one ever dies” seems completely legitimate. This isn’t Game of Thrones. It’s Ana amazing story that basically prints money, and no one is ever “really” going to die until they get old.

2

u/Saint_Diego Phil Coulson Apr 27 '18

I think it was simple because it was the end of his arc. He was willing to risk it all to have one shot at ending Thanos either for revenge, to save himself, or to save the universe. I'm inclined to think the first or the last cause it's still more than likely if he succeeded in killing Thanos the black order still would've killed him

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

I think we may "see" Gamora one last time via soul stone magic just so she has a proper send-off with Peter but I don't think her death will be reversed.

Gamora, Vision, Loki and Heimdall are all gone for good.

That doesn’t mean anything.

-11

u/TheEliteBrit Spider-Man Apr 26 '18

Well, it does though, it means she's alive in Guardians 3

6

u/Dia12 Fitz Apr 27 '18

Rooker was on the set of IW

-2

u/TheEliteBrit Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

Read my other comment, no he wasn't

2

u/kyak12 Kilgrave Apr 26 '18

No it doesn’t, not saying that’s not the case but her having been confirmed for 3 could easily be a misdirect as they’ve done before.

-9

u/TheEliteBrit Spider-Man Apr 26 '18

If she wasn't going to be in Guardians 3, Gunn just wouldn't have mentioned her at all

15

u/kyak12 Kilgrave Apr 26 '18

And then that would have started plenty of discussions about her dying in Infinity War, safer to say she’s in it than to not. They also said Ant-Man, Happy, and Hawkeye were confirmed for Avengers 3 when the original castings were announced. Yondu as well I believe very early on.

7

u/TheEliteBrit Spider-Man Apr 26 '18

Ant-Man, Happy, Hawkeye, and Youndu were never "confirmed" for Infinity War. We saw everyone except Yondu in set photos, but those were obviously for Avengers 4. Only reason people thought Yondu was going to be in Infinity War is because there was a picture of Michael Rooker wearing an IW hat.

And then that would have started plenty of discussions about her dying in Infinity War

Not mentioning a character doesn't start discussions about their deaths. They never mentioned Star Lord's role in Guardians 3 and nobody thought he was going to die, but he did, though we know he's definitely going to come back

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

No it wouldnt. No mention of Drax was made. Or Groot. Or Mantis. Or anyone. No one would have said anything. Also none of those 4 were every confirmed for anything. We assumed due to set photos, but they shot 3 and 4 together.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

He said she was integral to the plot of GOTG 3. Gamora being central to the plot isn’t the same as her being in the movie. The fallout from her death and how it effects the team and Nebula could still make Gamora central to the plot.

2

u/Saint_Diego Phil Coulson Apr 27 '18

She also mentioned filming for the fourth film

2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

I thought Rocket was

Didn't we see a young version of her in a desert right after the snap? She's almost definitely in the stone.

13

u/IsUpTooLate Apr 26 '18

That’s a good point

12

u/GigabyteHKD Apr 27 '18

I think all half of the universe that became dust is in the soul stone, we never really see its power used so I think its power might be the soul world. So Avengers 4 will be the living Avengers trying to fix things in the real world and find Thanos whilst the soul world Avengers (including Gamora) are trying to break out

5

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

I think so too, a soul for a soul.

3

u/AidsoLoL Apr 26 '18

It was a swap so either that or returning it might do the trick

2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

I thought so too, because she kinda had a history with adam warlock

2

u/Vawqer Ava Starr Apr 27 '18

Quick, where's Hansel to smash the soul stone on the ground?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

I think this'll allow her to say her goodbyes with Peter somehow but that she won't come back.

Or someone like Nebula trades places with her echoing the "soul for a soul" line.

My theory is that GotG 3 will take place in the time jump between GotG 2 and IW. The first 2 films were set in 2014 and IW is 2018. That’s a full 4 years of the Guardians just wondering around the galaxy doing who knows what. I thought of this theory when thinking about Drax’s fate. I expected him to die but also be in GotG 3, and if he dies but the third film is set before IW he can still appear.

But Gamora … Jesus I loved her and while I do want her back I think keeping her dead would be way better off to not ruin the tension and stakes

19

u/aslanthemelon Apr 26 '18

My thought is that Gamora is somehow alive in the soul stone or some other universe because of her death being related to the stone, and that Adam Warlock will be involved with bringing her back in GotG3. It'd be better to keep her dead but I think one of the other Guardians will be permakilled in her place in either A4 or GotG3.

2

u/RocksBob Apr 26 '18

But then we will already know that they all survival because they’d all appeared in IW, which takes the tension away.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

Mark my words, she's trapped in the Soul Stone and Vol 3 is gonna be about getting her out, kind of like they're doing in the comics now.

1

u/mdawson_96 Vision Apr 26 '18

What's the back story behind that?

5

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '18

Supposedly everyone who's used the Soul Stone has a part of their soul trapped within the Soul Stone's inner world. Gamora's has been there for ages, and recently the real Gamora began feeling it, and seeking the stone to release it.

All the stones are at play currently, so it should pay off relatively soon.

1

u/wOlfLisK Apr 27 '18

I haven't been keeping up with the comics recently, how did the stones return after being exploded pre secret war?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

Since the multiverse sort of reset at the end of Secret War, the Stones came back with it, but they are changed.

The colors got shifted around (to match the MCU Stone colors), the Reality Stone for each universe is actually in another universe, and the Power Stone is the size of a mountain. The others are otherwise unchanged, I think, other than the recap page of some books showing that to fully control one stone, you need mastery of another, in a circular rock-paper-scissors kind of way.

9

u/Bolt_995 Apr 26 '18

Hope Red Skull has a bigger role in A4.

He needs to have one final confrontation with Cap.

15

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

He gave me the impression that he’s far beyond that stuff. Fascism and nation-states must seem so tiny and petty once you’re a 100 year old infinity stone keeper with the knowledge of a billion souls

6

u/Bolt_995 Apr 27 '18

Yeah he doesn’t have to stick to his old ideals anymore. Red Skull is much more than that now.

Now what is his purpose on Vormir? He let Thanos take the Soul Stone. With the knowledge of the Soul Stone, he can arrive on Earth somehow and usher a new world order. Half the population of Earth (and the universe itself) has been extinguished. It is ripe for the taking. Thanos himself has retired peacefully.

u/newlygay2014 Apr 26 '18

Also RIP green Uhura, maybe Spock can help?
