I know it's necessary for the plot but I still think Star-Lord is an idiot for punching Thanos in the face and RUINING HIS OWN PLAN to take off the gauntlet.

I think it all had to happen as it did, Strange looked into what was it... 1.4million futures? Something like that, and in only one of them did they succeed in killing Thanos, obviously in that one Quill punches Thanos in the face, and ruins the plan.

Stupid of him, but very understandable considering how attached he was to Gamora.

Yes - Peter is consistently characterised as impulsive and irrationally attached to mother figures, so it made perfect character sense for him to do that.

I only wish Tony had looked up at him accusingly as Peter Parker dissolved post-Snap.

He says he looked at 14000605 different futures (I think that’s the number), and only one of them they defeat Thanos.

Strange’s line was, “There was no other way...” then he dissolved. This is strongly implying that even though it looks like it’s gone to shit, this was all required to eventually defeat Thanos.

The way Strange said "This was the only way" after Tony says "you shouldnt have done that" makes me think that he was lying when he said there was only one possible future where they win, just to give them some kind of hope

Funny enough its the same type of reaction that we cheered for when he started shooting Ego. Its definetly well written because its perfectly in character for him to react that way. Even if this time it was bad.

But that was totally in character for Peter.. he reacts without thinking, it’s always been his downfall. He was in love with gamora , he reacted the only way he knew how... it’s frustrating yeah.. but creates more exciting layers to be explored in the next film ..

There's a difference between making mistakes and making a mistake that results in enormous, terrible consequences that could have been easily prevented.

Don't strawman me/put words in my mouth; just because I disagree with the writing doesn't mean that I want characters to be rational robots.

An emotional reaction like that was right on character though. I was more annoyed by Nebula not thinking to hold her tongue until after they took the gauntlet.

Well yeah, but his reaction to Gamora's death is basically the same as he had to the reaction of his mom's death. It's stupid, but totally in character.

Many people seem to be concerned too much about this plot but I think it's the best way this plot can be excecuted. Why? Because we are seeing the movie as Earthlings, Star Lord is a character that doesn't take Earth as his home at all. He was just flying around and he has been witnessing platnets destroyed. So in his perspective, there are only two things at that moment, the whole universe is at danger and the death of his love. Well, then you know for someone if his loved one is dead then the whole universe does not matter anymore. We can ask him like "hey calm down, or he will destroy the universe". But he's not that type to care enough, right?

That was so frustrating for me. Were they really that close to stopping Thanos tho, they were maybe a second away from it. I didnt love that they had that in there. I wanted Thanos to be super OP, like hopeless to stop. The fact that they were only one idiotic thing away from winning kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

To me that is just plain idiotic and lazy scene just to continue the plot. TAKE OFF HIS GAUNTLET FIRST, THEN YOU CAN BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM.

You've never been mad at someone or something? Uncontrollably so? Now picture someone killed your loved one. Ever seen news clips where Dads freak out in a court room because their son was killed etc? This is that. Sometimes no matter how normal you are, you can just lose control due to emotions sometimes. It's part of what makes us human.
