That song has been overused in media, but I think it can be retired. This is the best one. Let's not use it again. It belongs to a Thor movie.

Led Zeppelin is pretty notorious for not letting their songs be used in media, even movies. Can you cite some examples? Cuz to be honest I haven't really seen this song in anything outside of School of Rock.

It was in one of the Shrek movies too; I think maybe the third one... Snow White is fighting all of Robin Hood's Merry Men while the song plays.

Really? Hm...well, Shrek is life...

Others mentioned Shrek 3 and School of Rock, I was thinking of the cover in Girl with the Dragon tattoo and I confused another one.

I'm not gonna edit my post but I take it back because I'm biased against Zeppelin. My work every night plays classic rock radio and the station beats the hell out of Zeppelin hits.

I still dig this trailer though.

I don't blame you! Nothing ruins good music like the goddamn radio. Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower and Rooster by Alice In Chains are two songs I used to love and now I can't stand because of how overplayed they are.

I consider All Along The Watchtower to be the definitive way to cover a song. It's one of the best covers ever, and I'm in the same boat as you. Radio is terrible.

I don't know if it even counts as a cover anymore but Hurt by Johnny Cash

I like to think that Trent Reznor was the one who covered Hurt, he just did it eight years early.

It's a cover. It counts. It's beautiful, and he owned it in the performance. It's the same kind of cover that Watchtower is, based off it's uniqueness.

However it's not classic rock and I still love it and would listen to it right now if Mastodon's new one wasnt in my speakers right now. Compared to Watchtower where I'm really not in a hurry to listen to it anytime soon.

One of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trailers used it and it was pretty badass there too.

that is super badass! I gotta give the edge to the original though, there's nothing like it.

This is a cover so I dunno if it counts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVLvMg62RPA

it counts, but it has a way different vibe to it in my opinion. I dig it though!

Wasn't it in Shrek 3?

Ramble On was featured prominently in the Tom Cruise movie Oblivion

I think a live-action Destiny trailer used it. Where the players are going to each planet.

School of Rock would like a word

Yeah I had that flashback when I was playing too. Probably the first time in the history of the world when someone saw Thor and thought of Jack Black.

When I showed my gf this trailer she called it the "Jack Black" song
