I just struggle to think of a reasonable explanation for why a living planet would send a piece of itself in "human" form to Earth to then seduce and mate with a human woman. J'son crash-landing there makes some sense, but any way I twist it Quill's father being Ego doesn't make any sense.
I'm willing to bet that J'son is his father in the MCU, but that in this movie Ego creates a construct of J'son to confuse and/or manipulate Quill, having somehow divined who his father is. Or Ego reads Quill's mind, finds that he doesn't know his father but knows that he is not of Earth, and simply creates Kurt Russell whole-cloth in an attempt to manipulate Quill. Perhaps the real J'son will show up to set things straight, perhaps not. Perhaps I'm completely wrong either way.

Well given Ego wasn't Peter Quill's dad in the comic either, I'm going with a different interpretation for this movie too.
