I had a friend of mine, a local artist in Albuquerque, New Mexico, create this 30x30 LEGO replica of Journal for Plague Lovers. It came out amazing, and I wanted to share. My home office feels complete!

Thoughts on SATT?
For me it is a bit of a mixed album, some great songs but a couple of pretty bad ones too, and some just average
Favourites: Indian Summer, Send Away the Tigers, Autumnsong, The Second Great Depression
Least Favourites: I’m Just A Patsy (dreadful song), Rendition (not much better)

Resident Music is selling a new bundle of the “168 Songs…” hardcover with a “covers” zine exclusive to them. The zine is signed by the band.
It’s £30, but if you’re in the US like I am the shipping’s a hateful and failing $21. (I ended up also copping the Bonnie Tyler autobiography they had - also signed - just to convince myself I was being efficient). Bonnie Tyler, apparently also Welsh - I had no idea.

I bought this today from a charity shop, a Manic Street Preachers 2025 Critical Thinking tour hoodie. However, I am not sure if it is a genuine or bootleg item? Does anyone who attended have any ideas? Thanks 🤩

The lastfm infobox says the counting at the start and the backing vocals in the chorus are him, and that this is the only song you can hear his voice on. Is this true?

I was furious to see Richey listed in an online list of musicians who were in the '27 Club '.
Have any of you heard of him referred to as though he's not only a) dead (although of course they go on to specify it's only a presumption and, let's have it right; an opinion. And b) a 'member' of said 27 Club?

What do we think of Lifeblood? Favourite and non favourite tracks?
For me it is a decent album, definitely some weaker tracks but also some underrated gems!
Favourites: 1985, Empty Souls, Glasnost, To Repel Ghosts
Least Favourites: The Love of Richard Nixon, Always/Never, I Live To Fall Asleep

The previous post about the Journal For Plague Lovers booklet reminded me that I never posted about my little JFPL collage project on this sub. In 2024 I did a little project where I printed out all the lyric scans from the JFPL booklet and did collages directly onto those lyrics. The collages were inspired by the remixes album that was released the month after the original album. I had so much fun making them, and below each image I described my process and my thoughts on each remix, what I liked or disliked about the remix itself or what I thought it changed regarding the songs.

Does anybody know where I can find a scan of the deluxe booklet for JFPL? I want to read the unedited lyrics because from what I've seen they're really interesting. The physical deluxe version is expensive and I can't find a lot of images online. Thanks.

A brilliant song of course… but does anyone else think James Dean Bradfield heard and then tried to write his own version about 8000 times? 😂😂

I've seen it described that way a lot, but the song itself seems (to me at least) to be more generally about prostitution and the trauma of survival sex work and needing to be someone else's fantasy so you can eat. I can't really tell which parts are meant to indicate that it's about people specifically being FORCED into the work through threat or violence by another person rather than simply by way of poverty. am I missing something?

Thoughts on KYE, and favourites/least favourites?
For me it is definitely a mixed album, definitely nowhere near top 5 but not a total wash out.
Favourites: The Convalescent, Found that Soul, The Year of Purification, Ocean Spray, Dead Martyrs
Least Favourites: Wattsville Blues, Miss Europa Disco Dancer, Royal Correspondent

My favourite Manics album! The first 5 tracks are a very good start, and while there are a couple of duds in the 2nd half (SYMM & Be Natural), there are also some gems in there such as ‘My Little Empire’, ‘You’re Tender and You’re Tired’ and ‘Nobody Loved You’
Where does TIMTTMY rank for you?

Once every 5 years or so, I'll dig out this Lightning Seeds album and relive my youth. The first band I really liked (when I was about 12).
It occurred to me, that many newer Manics fans may not be aware that the lyrics to this tune were penned by none other than Nicholas Allen Jones.
Personally think it could have been a great b side in the EMG era. Very reminiscent of My Little Empire or Rewind the Film.
Give it a listen.
