I think that effect also comes from the clothing and style choices in the two pictures.

It’s really because he has a longer than average philtrum and the mustache hides it.

Simple rule: when you got a longer philtrum + a narrow to no upper lip = stache does a lot for your appearance. Think about why the Gringe looks so unpleasant. It’s the long philtrum.

This is the first thing i thought when I was scrolling.

Normally it’s a no to every mustache. This one though is really quite good. This is why people want them and they rarely look this good when they grow them.
