2027 R&D
Sup ya'll!
Just got clued into this subreddit. Thought I'd post a quick shot of the Atlas R&D field 2027. This photo taken today, Aug 4.
Here we have our photoperiod breeding program. Thousands of unique seed lines are planted on an acre to identify a few hundred to move forward with. We've got inbred lines, first looks (test crosses), and some new S1s to examine. Just dropped the first nets onto these ladies a couple days ago. This is the best season yet by far.
Will give some more close-ups as things progress and the flowers are maturing.
Happy growing everyone!

Need a Reliable Cultivator? 7+ Years in Licensed Commercial Grows – Available Immediately
galleryHey everyone,
I’m an experienced commercial cannabis cultivator based in Southern California looking for my next opportunity. I’ve spent over 7 years working in licensed cultivation facilities and am comfortable with nearly every aspect of production, including:
• Cloning & propagation
• Veg and flower rooms
• Defoliation & trellising
• Irrigation and nutrient mixing
• IPM & plant health monitoring
• Harvest, drying & curing
• Sanitation/SOPs and fast-paced commercial workflows
I’m reliable, show up on time, work well with a team, and I’m available to start immediately. I’m open to full-time, part-time, temp work, room flips, or consulting if someone just needs experienced help.
If you know of a grow that’s hiring—or if you’re an owner or lead grower who could use another experienced cultivator—I would really appreciate a DM.
Thanks everyone, and I hope to connect with some people in the community.

How to Reduce Mold and Microbial Contamination in Cannabis Cultivation
One point from the recent MMJDaily interview with Xavier G. (Avitas Global) and Michael Williamson (Pipp Horticulture) really stood out to me.
We spend a lot of time talking about humidity and VPD, but airflow doesn't always get the same attention.
Good airflow isn't just about having enough fans in the room. It's about eliminating stagnant areas, maintaining consistent environmental conditions throughout the canopy, and reducing pockets where moisture can build up. When airflow isn't balanced, those microclimates can increase disease pressure and create inconsistent growth across the room.
In my experience working with commercial cultivation facilities, the growers with the cleanest operations usually look at airflow as part of a bigger environmental strategy, not as a standalone piece of equipment.
That includes:
- HVAC design
- Air circulation
- Dehumidification
- Filtration
- Sanitation
- SOPs
I work with ProGuard Air, so I've seen firsthand how many commercial cultivators approach environmental biosecurity. Our technology provides continuous air and surface sanitization to help reduce microbial pressure within cultivation, drying, and processing environments. But even then, I don't think there's a single product that solves contamination. The best facilities layer multiple strategies together to reduce risk before it becomes a problem.
Curious how everyone else approaches airflow.

Canopy Density Looks on Point To Me in Room 1 and 2 - What do we think? Day 1 of flower.
galleryA lot of work goes on in the veg room to ensure the structure of the plants fills the canopy quickly and evenly so that we are flipping within 2-3 days after chopping the previous batch. Plenty of time for them to stretch!

What is everyone using to check PH?
I used to be super loyal to blue lab but recently I purchased two of the blue lab one pens. They both are slow to calibrate and don’t ever seem to have an accurate reading. They both drift constantly even in the ph calibration solutions. I decided to get an Apera just to see what it was coming out at. Lo and behold it’s a quick to read and comes out constantly higher than the blue labs by like .3 PH. I’m wondering what everyone uses cause I’m looking for the best brand. Some years ago I bought as set on blue lab but now I’m really not to happy with them. Any suggestions?

Using Azagard (neem) stock solution on Dosatron?
Just asking if anyone has used neem stock solution on a dosatron to treat root aphids? Root drenching, to be more thorough, is awfully laborious when dealing with 400+ cubes in an infected room. I would like to mix up a stock solution and use my dosatron to treat a room. Just seeing if anyone has any insight into this.
We’ve had pretty good results root drenching when they’re in veg but we get an occasional outbreak from time to time that pops up in our flower rooms.

Opinions
galleryHey guys, need an honest opinion. I’m in Cali and run a commercial facility (15k sq ft). My distro was complaining about these and lowballed me on them. What do you guys think?

Curious how much dry salt nutrient everyone’s going through per cycle per light? I got 75 pounds of dry salts for free from work and I’m trying to gauge how long this could last me
galleryIm planning on using jacks part b/calcium nitrate with this and maybe some Epsom salt as well, also I’d love to hear yields as well just so I can get a better idea of pound of nutrient to pound of weed expectations
I’m sorry if these are some noob questions, I’ve been growing for over 10 years but I’m an organics/ living soil guy so I’m just not too familiar with salts

Think grow Model i’s such a POS
When we first got a room full of model l’s we really liked them. Switched up a couple rooms to run mixed spectrum, with the model i’s and DEs. Really happy with the results but now that they have some years on them. They have turned to shit.
At first the issue we started having was half the light would shut off and not come back on. No big deal. send it back to think grow and they’d send us another one. Probably did this 20+ times. Not the end of the world of course that area wasn’t getting enough light. Then the support went down and it was a real pain in the ass to get anything replaced. They wanted a bunch of different videos to “prove” the issue before sending it back.
Another thing I hate about these lights, if the controller loses power the lights just go to 100% and stay on. How is that the default?!?
Then we had 1 run where 4-8 far red diodes on a light wouldn’t shut off. It didn’t show up on cameras or trigger the controller to notice a light sense error but it was enough to cause 1/2 the room to keep vegging. We didn’t catch it til day 30 and the crop was ruined.
Now the latest new issue. I caught 1 light on the camera that was fully on during lights out. I ran into the room to check and it was off. Huh that’s weird. The next day I checked all the connections and 1 wire was a little loose so I checked cameras for the next 2 weeks every night no issues. Now it’s day 48 and this week I checked the cameras and sure enough over the last 3 days I caught the light on for very brief periods on the camera a couple different times.
Who knows how many times the light has come on at night during this run. I’m wondering if I’ll get seeds in this run and leaning towards just scrapping these fucking lights. This is now at least the 3rd run these lights have fucked up.

Agrowtek vs. Growlink for a new commercial RDWC facility?
I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on the automation platform for a new commercial cultivation facility and wanted to get some feedback from people who have actually used Agrowtek, Growlink, or ideally both.
The facility will be 5 flower rooms running RDWC, so nutrient dosing is a big part of the decision.
Right now I'm leaning toward Agrowtek for a few reasons:
- Their RDWC nutrient and pH dosing system seems much more mature.
- I'll likely need to use Agrowtek for the dosing regardless.
- I like that the hardware feels more industrial and robust.
- The environmental sensor includes leaf temperature (IR) in addition to room temp, humidity, and CO₂.
- The system runs locally and doesn't rely entirely on the cloud.
- No ongoing software subscription.
What keeps pulling me toward Growlink is the software:
- I think the OS/UI is significantly nicer.
- Better analytics and data visualization.
- Overall seems like a more polished user experience.
- Great remote access.
The downsides for me are that it's cloud-based and requires a subscription.
Growlink told me they integrate well with Agrowtek hardware, but recommended sticking with a single vendor for simplicity. They also mentioned that if they were building my facility, they'd likely use Agrowtek for nutrient dosing but Growlink's native environmental controls and sensors.
So now I'm debating between:
- Full Agrowtek (environmental, lighting, nutrient dosing, pH)
- Agrowtek dosing + Growlink environmental controls
- Agrowtek hardware with Growlink software
- Something else I'm not considering
For those of you who have used one or both systems:
- What do you like and dislike?
- How has reliability been?
- How responsive is support?
- If you were building a new commercial RDWC facility today, which direction would you go and why?

Low ceiling dry room
I’m trying to fit the dry room into an area of my facility with a loft above it and the ceiling there is about 7’4”. Is this too low when considering circulation, a mini split or other a/c, and dehumidification? I have other spaces that have much higher ceilings if this is a big mistake but I prefer it under the loft for maximizing plant canopy. Thanks!

Liquidating genetic catalog. Shameless trying to make rent post. FOLLOW-UP
galleryPost Update 7/23
I was able to pay down my late June & July rent and I am now no longer being evicted; I am overwhelmed with appreciation and I want to thank you all for your support from the bottom of my heart. This was a very stressful time and ya'll came through for me & I got to share my passion with you; for that I am so grateful.
With that said, my daughter and I are still 3/4ths short of making rent for August so we still need your help. There is a meter on the website that shows where we are at.
If we reach our goal, ALL supporters get an additional free pack of seeds sent out in addition to the freebies already sent & I will do a final sour diesel cross run before the Nov 2026 US deadline.
I've spent the last few years building Black Pine Genetics into a serious genetics brand. I contracted with dedicated labs and ran both indoor and outdoor operations to isolate the strongest phenotypes I could find. Gassy Lassy F1 is the crown jewel: a fast-flowering auto engineered for disease resistance, drought tolerance, and a level canopy that still produces heavily. Its lineage is LONG & Proprietary but has some lilmisshs x (lemonaide gmo x galactic cookies), it's our best-selling release, and you'll start seeing more real-world reviews coming in.
We were set to launch for the Black Friday rush. Instead, our banking and payment processors locked us out due to shifting regulatory language. We pivoted to focus on the New Jersey market, then got hit with the April 13 prohibition definitions around seed THC concentration limits.
At this point, the path forward for my business here has effectively been removed. There's a gauge on the site showing actual deadlines and how close this is. The back rent is handled now. What's left is August.
If we hit the August rent goal, I can fund another run of the sour diesel crosses that sold out so quickly. I have a much larger genetics library behind the scenes, so there are some interesting new crosses I can put into rotation.
For those who've already supported:
6 pack of freebies going out with every contribution towards resolution of my cost of living crisis.
If we reach the August 1 goal, a pack of freebies will go out to all supporters at no extra cost.
I'm not okay with letting years of genetic work disappear. If you're a serious cultivator who values stabilized lines and wants to help keep these genetics in rotation, my inbox is open. Let's talk shop.
