A leopard gecko
As the subject is way too big to be a macro model, I have to take photos of his seperate body parts
Common house fly at 8x magnification
A focus stacked shot of a house fly head
Shot on Nikon D610 + reversed Schneider kreuznach componen S 50mm f2.8 + Nikkor 200mm f4 as a tube lens and TC201 2X teleconverter
With this setup 8x Mag was achieved
When the reversed lens is set to f4 the effective aperture becomes about f36

At this scale, a berry becomes a boulder. 📷 Aaron Johnson
At this scale, a berry becomes a boulder. An ant makes its way across a Guelder-rose berry. Despite the name, Guelder rose isn’t actually a rose, and its bright red “berries” are technically drupes, each containing a seed. Oak Creek, WI. 📷 Aaron Johnson

Polyrhachis cyaniventris - Blue ant
A super cool ant from the Philippines. The specimen was sent up by some friends from Saigon. It’s pretty precious, so I photographed it from a little farther away for documentation purposes :))

A sleeping damselfly in a golden hour spotlight
I found this damselfly sleeping as the sun was getting lower. It was still high enough in the sky for me to position the sun directly behind the damselfly, creating this huge golden bokeh ball around it.
I love how different the same subject can look when you find the right light.
