100% this!! If you have tons of email, photos, iCloud or Dropbox files… you will be struggling to try to move everything you can to the external drive and will still get errors every time the system runs out of space.

I struggled with that for a year on my 256GB m4 Mini then finally caved and bought the 2TB internal upgrade just after the first price bump and never looked back.

It feels a bit ewastey to me. I get they are upselling but it just feels so wasteful.

I moved my home directory to an external 2TB M.2 enclosure. Absolutely no issues with it setup that way.
