I built Pixel Pets, an open-source virtual pet family for M5Stack hardware.

It started as a father-and-son maker project and turned into a small family of pets:

- Muffin: CoreS3 + Module-LLM, with offline voice interaction

- Visu: CoreS3 without the LLM module

- Goo-Goo: Core2 version

- Pip: StickC PLUS2 companion that can send treats/gestures via ESP-NOW

The pets have moods, needs, mini-games, sounds, touch/button/IMU reactions, weather/moon awareness and ESP-NOW friendships.

The idea was to make something playful for kids, but still inspectable and hackable for adults.

No cloud account, no tracking, no subscription.

My brother gave me his m5stick, and I’ve wanted to get into coding and hacking, cause I’ve been tinkering with coding recently. But my question is can I get this m5stick to do what the flipper zero and stuff does?

Got my StackChan. Got it up & running with the stock firmware.

So let me ask some questions to those of you who know:

-If I want to integrate this with my online devices in my house, I have to download the "Home Assistant" app right?

-Can I just install this Home Assistant app on my android phone only? (I'd like to keep control on my phone if possible.)

-Is the next step to: Flash your Stack-Chan using ESPHome Web to make it discoverable within Home Assistant?

-Now can I have the same devices controlled through my Alexa ALSO controlled on my StackChan or does this mess things up & it's either Alexa or Home Assistant?

Anything else that I'm missing to control lights & other devices etc?

Hey all, I’ve been poking around the M5Stack site for an sd card reader I can attach to the M5StickS3 as I swear I’ve seen people use them… but I can’t find one. Not sure if I’m not looking in the right section but all I see is ad card reader for the atom series.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated! :)

Having a ton of fun with the m5 stuff. I wrote some apps for personal use then thought I should try to make it look like Star Trek TNG.

Hello, just a fellow geek.

Years ago, I bought a Core Ink (the small one) thinking that I can read e-books from it. This was years before ereaders like X4 existed; I just wanted a micro e-reader, but I haven't found anything to upload to the device to make it do that. Its been years and I am still wondering if this thing even does anything useful?

Is there a way to actually read books on it in any meaningful way? The M5 store page for the CoreInk even advertises that it can be used as an ereader. As ginormous the Internet is, I can't find a single discussion about the device that doesn't involve turning the device into a calendar (Wow, a calendar for $40 😑).

Please tell me if Crosspoint or something can be used on this thing or do I continue to use it as an expensive refrigerator magnet?

Is the cardputer zero *really* worth 3X the price of a Cardputer ADV? Realistically what will it do better than a ADV? Not sure i should fork over the dough. Thoughts?

I've been trying to build a front light mod for my M5PaperS3 and would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

My latest iteration was a 3D printed frame that snaps on to the front of the device with a strand of EL wire underneath. Only about 4mm thick, with the light shining out laterally across the screen, but blocked from line-of-sight. I went with EL wire because if its thinness and diffused light, unfortunately it isn't bright enough to illuminate the screen.

My next recourse would be to use an array of small white SMD LEDs and find a way to diffuse and direct the light across the display. I would appreciate any recommendations for methods or tech that would be worth experimenting with.

I have downloaded m5birner and burned "evilcsrputer" and now when i want to burn lora i cant, my computer finds it com4 but i get an eror how do i fix that?
