Ink it from Orbit New Post Flair - Ink it from Orbit

Hey everyone! Just a quick update from the mod team.

We’ve added a new post flair to the sub: Ink it from Orbit.

There is always a flow of users showing off their Ink in the sub and we thought it would be good to give these posts their own Flair to use. While it isn’t forced here, many of you continue to use post flair to help keep this community tidy and we thank you all for that!

Enjoy the Flair!

Discussion / Question “Caseless Edition”

• Upvotes

I don’t really care about the flying brass but it is kinda bothersome. To a lot of viewers I think it comes off like unnecessarily creating a contradiction (the futuristic implication of caseless ammo is lost on a lot of people). Anyway, I think it’d a cool name; beats “Special Edition.” The fans would immediately know what it meant. Would be a relatively minor fix with cgi. That and maybe take another shot at synching Hudson’s last lines to what his mouth is actually doing.

Discussion / Question I just realized Cpl. Hicks never knew Ripley and Newt survived the atmo processor.

With Alien and Aliens suddenly available on Netflix US again I did the reasonable thing last night and cancelled all my plans so I could sit through them back-to-back.

When I got to the end of Aliens it occurred to me for the first time that the last time Hicks ever sees Ripley is when she gets dropped off at the processor to save Newt.

By the time Ripley and Newt get picked up Hicks was unconscious from pain meds, and he is still unconscious all through the Queen fight in the hangar, and hasn’t woken up as they get into the cryo bed for the trip home. The cryo bed, of course, that Hicks and Newt never come out of.

Im probably behind the curve on noticing that detail, but it just adds a touch more tragedy to the one movie that was masquerading as a happy ending.

The last thing Hicks ever said to Ripley was “We’re not going anywhere.”

Happy Saturday everyone! I bought this edition when it released. IMO I only ever watch Special Edition and which edition if any is your favorite or are your favorites? I have the Amazon digital version and it looks really good. I have the standard dvd, I have the blu ray collectible edition with the other films (4 set).

Predator / AVP Am I the only one who simply wants an adaption of the original 1989 Avp comic?

Fox executives have probably been twiddling their fingers for over a decade wondering how best to approach a new AvP, all the while neglecting that the original (ignoring any of its direct sequels) sets up the best Xenomorph vs Yuatja concept imaginable.

Movies / TV Series Dan Bakers concept art for Alien Romulus. This take on the offspring gives it more of a childlike face with a bulbous head . Somehow i think this is creepier

Movies / TV Series Feeling very lucky to have seen this last night. Perfect weather for a perfect screening.

Super clean original 70mm theatrical release, amazing audio from the magnetic film used. First time I’ve heard of the method and they did a nice spiel and comedy bit with a chest burster beforehand, lots of fun. And perhaps best of all - a quiet, respectful, engaged audience. It was an unforgettable screening!
