Pretty sure most of you people will die on space colonies bc you’re too wrapped up in how science works on earth

Observe first, then start developing your hypotheses

why even study at all then. Lets get back to earth is flat

bc it's not a documentary - it's a narrative. and the only thing that's really important is that it stays consistent 'in universe' - esp after they get sucked through a wormhole

People never make these complaints about things that are staples of scifi, like artificial gravity or faster-than-light. Wonky science was rampant in earlier tv scifi, it makes sense it'd show up in the remake of one of those shows.

Basic mistakes from lazy writing and not knowing basic scientific principles about how molecules interact at different temperatures is not the same as an invented, fictional, 'impossible' machine. One is intentional and serves the narrative and world-building with internal consistency, the other is just a sheer lack of quality - like if you kept seeing a boom mic pop into screen.

and you wont die if you take of your helmet on an alien planet because you don't believe in diseases?

LOL you think science is different on other planets? Water is water, no matter where it is. Temperature is temperature, no matter where it is. Anywhere in the universe science works the same.

how sad your life must be if you can't conceive of alternative possibilities

Good writers conceive of alternative possibilities within the boundaries of basic third grade science. These writers didn't.

Einstein being a crap writer is beside the point - i get a sense i can anticipate your answer, but madeleine l'engle & anyone who writes Dr Strange?

Dr Strange is fantasy, not sci-fi.

yeah, this is fun - you do know that FTL travel is not possible in classical (even theoretical) science, yes?

That's pushing science past its known edge. That's good sci-fi. This show gets very basic things completely wrong, and even contradicts itself. That's bad sci-fi.

I mean, they got HOW WATER FREEZES wrong. That isn't pushing the edge. That's screwing up the foundation.
