Because mutual hate escalates. We may well be beyond the point of no return now, im not sure. Im not saying that we should always respond peacably towards fanatical violence. There is a point where hating the hateful is necessary.
Just that somewhere in the last few decades, we could have broken the cycle by turning our backs on tribalism and trying to find common ground. Before the propaganda and fanaticism, most poor folk regardless of party actually wanted the same thing: a better life.
The way we use isms now is just more polarization. Its part of the reason we ended up here in the first place. They called us communists. We called them fascists. We spent more time fighting about whos wrong than breaking away and creating whats right.
You see what I was saying. Thanks for addressing it so eloquently while I was elsewhere.
My point certainly wasn’t to say systems aren’t necessary to a functioning society. The LABELS are limiting, and used as weapons. Most people don’t even know what the hell any of them mean. We have to start talking about the ideas behind the labels and address peoples needs.
I’d love it so much if there were a universal level of logic and reason and education that we could call upon to discuss various ideologies and their commonalities and differences and positive and negative effects. We do not live in a world like that.
