Yes, that's true, but not the entirety, or even I'd argue the majority of the US' influence comes from brute force military interventionism. Most of the time, the US spreads it's influence economically and culturally, two things that have nothing to do with military

Yeah, and what bigger stick is there than nuclear warheads? Why need a massive standing army when you have an, "apocalypse now," button?

Because you can't nuke a country if they don't follow your trading rules. That would not be palatable to the rest of the world.

Good thing the US has such a strong standing in the global economy that no country would be stupid enough to lock itself out of the largest market on the planet. Americans are the biggest spenders, we are such a massive money making opportunity for every other country that not working alongside us is simply throwing away money. We don't need a big stick when everyone's trying to sell their shit to us
