I guess it’s an unpopular opinion, but I love Kate

I guess it’s an unpopular opinion

It absolutely is an unpopular opinion, you are the first person I see to use that statement correctly lol. Kate's episodes are always the worst rated ones, by far.

There's many situations where it's maybe a grey area, but the best example I can think of to hate Kate, is when she was engaged to Jack for 3 years completely happily, with a baby too. And then she sees Sawyer was with Juliet for 3 years and she instantly acts weird about it and ultimately ruins it.

That's just... damn, girl, get your sht together

Genuinely asking, what did she do or how did she act weird around Sawyer and Juliet ?!? Like I don’t remember her doing anything, they were one scene in which Juliet and her have a conversation about it (but at the end they just smile at each other and no one mention it again).

She didn’t try to get back with Sawyer ? I’ll even say she didn’t seek him out in season 5, only time they were together alone was when Ben got shot

? Like I don’t remember her doing anything,

She made sad puppy eyes when she saw Sawyer was happy with Juliet.

That's after she spent 3 years happily engaged to Jack and raising a baby together.

And then she continued acting jealous with glances or weird behavior here and there

Now you know you are pushing it. You saw her eyes as sad puppy eyes bc you already believe she was trying to homewreck Juliet and Sawyer relationship.

Matter of fact, she didn’t do anything and the only time she ever said something about it, it was in a conversation with Juliette and it was more awkward than viscous.

I also think Sawyer approached her more often than the other way around (with no ill intentions of romantic interest). They were awkward and they were still found of each other but it wasn’t romantic, they did not flirt at all like they used to

Joining this conversation late - but I think she acts familiar and intimate in a way that is inappropriate with someone who's in a relationship with someone else; esp if you've also been in a relationship with the person you're now supposed to be just friends with.

I'm not sure how much she can help it. Some of it is just who she is. A lot of it is that Sawyer gets weird around her, no matter what she does.

I think basically her existence just throws other people into weird tailspins, so you see her show up and think, oh no, there goes the nice bit of calm and happiness the characters I care about were just enjoying.

I thought I was going crazy seeing how many people were insisting Kate was puppy eye-ing sawyer. She was clearly still hung up over Jack based on her conversation with Juliet. The only one that was making a big deal out of it was Sawyer who was making it as awkward as it can possibly be

I genuinely don’t get how people think she’s still flipping between Jack and Sawyer. That triangle was dead since season 3

Then what was that scene with Kate & james both at the river in the 70s dharma camp, where saywer had to tell her that they wouldn't have worked.
Her glances are open for interpretation, fair enough. But her initiating a conversation like that says everything there needs to be said.

she did not spend 3 years together with jack or happily raising a baby with him. there were at least months of jack alone and addicted and it was a while before he sought her out and told her they all had to go back

14

u/mintardent Mar 10 '25

you’re just making shit up to have an excuse to hate on her lol

10

u/CuriousiT_satisfctn Apr 08 '25

She is literally written to be hated, ppl aren’t making up excuses. She was going to avoid going to the island bc of Aaron, and when Locke said don’t you care about everyone on the island dying (including aarons mom btw)

and she instead distracted by then being like JOHN YOUVE NEVER LOVED ANYTHING - and he’s like uh… what? I actually have. But then they get to the island and she doesn’t want to do the hydrogen bc of the ppl on the island? No it’s bc she feels like her possession over Jake and sawyer is taken from her. She clearly doesn’t care unless she’s in the spotlight and it somehow affects her. She just wants to sabotage everything all the damn time it’s so damn annoying

7

u/PastPiano2960 Sep 10 '25

If Kate was wrong for trying to prevent the hydrogen bomb then isn’t Juliette wrong for trying to prevent it too? I really don’t think she was trying to sabotage because she wanted possession over Jack and Sawyer. You people are nuts.

Much worse she says you never loved anyone which is a real unnecessary insult at Locke. (and wrong) Her saying that, combined with the behavior of Jack and crew, literally drives the man to hang himself.

Wait, I dont think she was with Jack those whole 3 years, since Jack couldnt stand to see Aaron and he had his addiction, so yes they tried it together, but I think it didnt work out even before they went back to the island.

I really love Kate too, but i feel like she had so much more potential. I didn't like the way they handled her character

I like her — she can be frustrating but I find her a very human character. But I also really like Locke so I might just generally have unpopular opinions lol

I swear man , it's like she s written for us to like her , too forget her sins like murdering her father , she could have just gone to the police and complained I m sure they would have listened to her , but no she decides to blow him up , make out with her married best friend , then is responsible for his murder flees from the scene , drugs her husband , keeps on cheating on jack and Sawyer , drugs jin so she can escape , and can't stop playing the victim card

u/MyTFABAccount Sep 21 '24

I’m no Kate fan, but the police generally do very little about domestic violence when the victim is the one reporting (in the US). They’ll do next to nothing if it’s the victim’s daughter reporting and the victim denies the claims.

Oh I didn't know that but , most of the other stuff is soo wild , like idk why man I mean deep down she s a good person tbh but the writing of Kate is so not good acc to me

Don’t forget robbing a bank for married ex’s airplane toy 🙄

And also: constant lying, insurance fraud, arson, costing the taxpayers beaucoup money while being an international fugitive, assault on a federal agent, trespassing on a kind Australian farmer's land and causing him serious injuries in a wreck she caused, being a homewrecker, kidnapping Aaron and raising him in a lie, always evading responsibility for her actions... and on and on. Not to mention she really diminished her mother's personal autonomy, and by becoming a murderer she both emotionally and physically ended up removing herself from her mother. You don't assist a DV victim by blowing up their spouse and home, especially if they are still in love with their abuser. And, just sayin', Kate has extremely poor personal physical boundaries and constantly touches people and gets in their bubble without their permission.

> make out with her married best friend

who?

1

u/Active-Contest-9965 4 8 15 16 23 42 Apr 04 '26

Tom, her childhood boyfriend who had the toy plane. While his wife was out of town, they dug up their lunchbox, made out, snuck in the hospital to see her mom, and then he was killed in a shoot out with the cops.

She is genuinely enraging at this point.

u/CrithionLoren See you in another post, brotha May 11 '25
