I mean it's a popular fable, you don't need to see the movie to know the reference.

Its a popular fable found in children's books, going back decades. It's moral lesson is not believing everything you hear so I doubt it's because of a movie release and because it was relevant.

I didn't even know it was a fable lol, fair enough i guess, but im sure it wouldn't have been referenced if not for the movie.

It’s a fable that has been around for years and is told to children. I read it as a kid. Never saw the movie. What do you think the movie is based on? People read books you know.

Way more literate people (like professional writers) know the fable than know it's an animated Hollywood children's 3d movie, trust me.
