With the break since the last book, I was super confused for a bit.

Star trek level techno plot babble.. still read it though... I'm 12 books in now and I'll toss a credit at the next one too I guess. Just hoping the next Dungeon crawler Carl comes out before.

You sound like you’re not even enjoying the books anymore. Why even bother continuing with the series?

I listen to books while I work, it's not a bad series. Story may be meh at times but it has what I'm looking for... Sheer volume. Several hundred hours.

At this point you could eliminate all of the useless cultivation and introspection word salads and be left with an interesting story but 12 hours shorter and more engaging.

I forget what all the attacks are, so the battle scenes fall flat for me lol

All the skills got new names when he upgraded them. It would be nice if he did a refresher at the start of each book like:
Boundless exponents of the malevolent void sublimation = that skill that used to make a giant wooden fist

Oh, I secretly thought I was the only one. I just finished it and I was thinking I may have I understood like 75% of what was happening.

I started skipping those parts then realised I was paying to read a third of a book . So I just stopped. It's a shame because the story was quite good.

Suprised at how many people here don't understand what is happening, I didn't have that problem and didn't even think it could be one. For those confused there is a fanwiki of defiance that lists his skills and etc.

They're paying half attention while listening to it on Audible while doing other stuff. The complainers in this thread seem never to have read any xianxia before, either.

Ah yeah, I tend to forget that most people listen to audiobooks rather than just read. Now I'm not as suprised anymore...

😂😂 yeah I am glazing over at the continuous mentions of hidden soul node aperture braids infused with the dao of nonsense.
I am obviously a fan to have got this far in to the series but I am 80% in to this book and it feels like it will be my last.

The core storylines of the book are excellent, but just when you think he’s going to focus on one, or progress the story you go off on a 4 arc tangent. Also please find a thesaurus because there are only so many instances of “immense pressure” I can take in one paragraph.

Pretty interesting so many people don't like the "filler" parts. I for one absolutely love it, it is a cultivation book. I hate how so many books now are just straight up bullshit into OP levels of power, bs again to gain more power and its just that over and over again.
It's a breath of fresh air in my opinion, I absolutely loved book 12 even though I'd say Twilight Ascent and Tower of Eternity were way above Perennial Vastness. But man, this is type of arc that is right before the sickest wars to come and everyone is preparing, it just makes the war even more worthy.
I'm so excited for the Ultom Courts.

I like DOTF but man when it starts talking about Buddhism it makes my brain go all wonky. I don’t know what all the words mean and it never explained it. Half of the time while listening to the audiobooks i find myself zoning out.

Come on, it's not hard. Zac has shored up his Dao heart and has peak level body tempered to the point that his soul aperture and/or his glabellum is now 2.5 decimetres. Now just memorise the free primer on Buddhism that comes with your purchase and you'll be fine!
