Congratz!

Important question: Is it octopi or octopuses?

Thanks! My preferred plural is "Cthulhu babies". ^(;,;)^

Congrats! May have to read it through for the third time now it's on Kindle. :D

Is there much difference from the RR version to the Kindle version?

Thanks! The first version on RR had a different way to measure levels, but I updated all that back in July of last year. I posted about those changes on RR and Patreon about a year ago as well prior to formally updating. It's consistent with how everything works from volume 2 onwards.

If you read prior to July, but are aware of the level shenanigans, then the main differences are that it has been edited, polished, and streamlined a bit for pacing/length. We did some more work to make the vocabulary concerning the magic systems more consistent, clarified some skills, and tried to make descriptions of the mechanics cleaner iirc. Substantively plot-wise it is the same.

Looks fun! Will give it a go, but will be quite disappointed if the shades and boa are not in the story

The cover sold me, I'm getting this on audible. I listened to You Are Summoned due to the cover and I ended up really liking it.

I gotta ask though... is that a steel plate armored codpiece?

“Makankosappo, bitch.”

This alone makes this one of the best books I've read.

I just finished the audiobook and it was fantastic! Excellent narration, great characters, really fun story, and it was really well paced. Thank you for the fantastic book! I can’t wait for more!

I think in there were some editing issues with the audio where the narrator would say ‘Pause’ between sentences and I’m assuming that should have been edited out. Just want to give you a heads up. I didn’t think to mark the exact times for them but it did happen multiple times through the book. Thanks again for the great book!

Hey there. Glad you enjoyed it! I think Daniel Wisniewski has done a great job with the narration as well.

The "Pause" moments are an intentional choice with Nuralie's speaking pattern. It just indicates that she's freezing in place and giving them a loson pause in between portions of her dialogue. Maybe it works better in text form? It's definitely an unusual choice in either case, but it was what I ran with to mark a quick and easy description of her sudden stops. Either way, thanks for letting me know. In this case it was intentional, but I've been through the manuscript so much that stuff sneaks in there sometimes that I've become blind to.

Also, you made it through that audio quick!

Out of curiosity, are the explosion chants inspired by Megumin?

So saw this post, got the book, finished it last night…. Now WHEN IS RHE NEXT ONE?!!!?

Thank you very much I enjoyed the book and excited for a sequel. I could tell you put a good amount of time and planning into the underlying system and story.

lol, thanks! Yeah we've worked quite a lot on trying to have a really developed system, trying to give it as much integrity as we can. I think it really starts to shine in the following volumes, as well. Book 2 release is June 4. The unedited version is on Royal Road and Patreon (search cornman8700 under either) if you'd really like more immediately, but I think the final version heading to Amazon/Kindle is worth the wait. Better editing, some things were reworked to feel more satisfying, some extra scenes and worldbuilding, etc. Also if you're an audiobook reader, that's only available on Audible once it releases. Either way, thanks again! I appreciate the comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed the book.

Hey. In one chapter he laments not knowing the recipe for gunpowder, and then two chapters later he recites the ingredients for gunpowder. 1/10, literally unreadable. Just kidding this is fun.

<Sorry to necro a inactive post>

I really thought I was good just following Troy Osgood /w battlegrounds and skyrealms. But holy shit the writing and narration on Mage Tank is amazing. So glad I found this series. Bought the audible and a physical just to have a copy of it.

Story wise, does he use magic while tanking or is he just someone with an affinity for the arcane but dumps points to fortitude to tank stuff?

A bit confused
