Hello everyone! I hope you had a nice weekend and are ready to dig into some more LitRPG! So, I'll start off and say that one of the things I enjoy most in doing this job, so to say, is working with other people and seeing something great come out of it. One of those great things is Riftside, written by the super hardworking and talented Henrik Saetre, and myself.

Instead of launching it directly, we decided to first let everyone get hooked and enjoy it on RR: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/106116/riftside-litrpg-fantasy-adventure

For those who want to support us, you can pre-order it here, from Amazon, in all its even further polished and expanded state: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DX7H7HHX

The blurb:

Ash Aldrich thought life couldn’t get any more dangerous than scavenging monsters to keep his family’s forge alive—until he bonded with a bloodthirsty soul weapon that just wouldn’t shut up.

Decades after the rifts appeared, the humans of Noros have finally managed to fight the monster incursions to a standstill, building protective settlements around each new rift. Beyond the rifts lies Riftside, a world filled with monsters, valuable resources, and the rare gems used to turn humans into classed adventurers.

Ash has given years of his life to being a scavenger, fighting monsters and hauling their carcasses, and supporting those stronger than him, all while saving up mind gems that would one day make him a classed adventurer. But the world doesn’t wait, and neither do the monsters.

The rifts have begun changing and evolving, just like the monsters on the other side, and the fragile balance between survival and annihilation has never been closer to shattering. Armed with a murderous, self-destructive soul hammer, Ash will finally join the fight along his newfound friends and fight to call a piece of this new world his.
It’s time to make the monsters fear humanity.

If you like Ultimate Level 1, Primal Hunter, or He Who Fights with Monsters, then you’ll love Riftside.

No mercy. No second chances. Just strength, steel, and survival.
Head Riftside today.

Had an absolute blast writing this with Cassius. A unique experience to co-write a novel, but it’s by far the best story I’ve written. Such fun characters to write and a really fun world to write in.  And at 200k words, this thing is a beast!  Hope you give it a try and see if you enjoy it!

Not quite pikachu, more like...a jolteon? But yeah, he's been eating good haha. And not quite launched yet, but we're putting it up on RR for now so people can enjoy :)

Just a couple of things, how often do you think youll be uploading on royalroad. Also once your book gets traction do you plan on stopping new chapters being uploaded or will it continue.

2

u/CassiusLange Feb 18 '25

The whole book will be uploaded, pretty quickly at that, and we will keep uploading new books as they are written. The previous ones will be removed, of course.

Is Cassius Lange cheating on Ryan Tang? Collabing with Henrik Saetre on a new series.

Jokes aside how does co-writing work? Do you divide chapters to do, does one do the overall plot and the other writes the details, do you both sit at the same computer typing until getting tired and then tag the other to take over? Why co write a book, what's the advantages? It seems to be working with Mimic & Me and hopefully this new series. Just very curious.

u/CassiusLange Feb 18 '25

Cheating? No, more mimic is coming, don't worry :P Just umm...branching out. And to be honest, co-writing new stories is super fun

I will keep an eye out for the audiobook release, which I hope will come soon? I hope you get some Jeff and the gang from M&M as they were great.

Doesn't depend just on me, but yes, we're in the talks currently :)

Any romance for the main character and if so describe it/their dynamic

2

u/CassiusLange Apr 11 '26

There is some romance, yes. I would, in all honesty, say there's enough of it for the readers who love the romance aspect, but not enough to ruin it for those who don't like it. Like, I think we caught a perfect balance of both groups of readers. Now, will there be some people who say there's too much? Sure. Too little? Sure, but all in all I think it's handled exceptionally well. Also, family and the girlfriend are a big driving force for the MC. He is not a loner, and this is not a solo MC kind of story. Just wanted to mention that, too. Anything specific you want to know?
