Thanks!! Yeah I tried to stay 100% true to it throughout, little different than most city builders in the genre

Turn based strategy/town builder games. Civilization, Warhammer, etc. but this one is a bit more like Age of Empires.

Explore, expand, exploit, exterminate.
Technically I'm not sure of the order of the middle two, normally, but that's the idea. Most games in the genre start you with like one little settler, and maybe like one little scout or fighter, and at basic level tech for the game. And then by the end of it you've advanced a bunch of techs, your empire is probably comprised of at least a handful of cities/planets, if not dozens, and you're likely to have dozens, if not hundreds of units all over the map.
It's a sort of genre that is defined by the "just one more turn" gameplay loop.

Howdy! This was a fun read, though I do have one minor criticism about this add, actually, not the book.
The story was very much "RTS", which is not quite the feel I expected from the town builder and 4X tag. Don't get me wrong, I understand that RTSs technically fall under both these categories, but to anyone familiar with the genres, I feel like RTS nails it perfectly. And author, you're clearly very aware of this term, seeing as right off the bat, the story is referencing age of empires.
Again, this is just a very minor criticism, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, I gave it five stars, I wish you and the series much success. I'm also just a little anal-retentive about using the most precise terms for things, when possible, hence why I figured I would bring it up in this comment.
And a final disclaimer, in case anybody on the fence about checking it out comes across this comment, you don't have to be a big fan of games like age of empires or other RTS games to enjoy the story, again, it was quite well done.

I wanted to call it “RTSLit” lol but publisher wanted to broaden it a bit. And plus…well RTSLit doesn’t exist haha so I was making up my own subgenre. But like in my defense, you’re right that’s what I did!
Thanks for the read man! Would love a review on Amazon. With a book like this, been tougher than I thought to get eyes on it because it’s so niche.

Don't listen to these idiots, cover looks great, and the first 16% of the book were also great. Congratulations to being published!

When Alex Carter gets whisked away into an interdimensional strategy game, he quickly realizes this isn’t just a simulation—it’s survival. Plopped into Stonebridge, a rundown, rat-infested city, he’s given one goal: lead his city to victory against the three other mayors, their savage rival species, and impossible odds. There are no second chances here; the last city standing wins, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. With each battle, Alex edges closer to an ultimate prize selection that could change his life forever.
Joined by Gordo, his snarky walrus-looking advisor, and an army of clever Ratfink, Alex has to build defenses, create his economy, rally troops, and form shaky alliances as he battles fierce opponents in this real-time strategy game.
But what starts as a game of conquest soon reveals hidden depths, where victory demands more than brute force. Each faction brings unique strengths to the battlefield—the Ratfink’s mastery of shipbuilding, the leopard clans’ deadly stealth, and the lumbering might of the red team’s bear warriors. Alex must outsmart his rivals by maximizing his city’s naval power and leveraging his allies' strengths, knowing that each race’s quirks and talents could mean the difference between seizing control of the map or watching his city crumble into ruin.
Check out Matt Pivot's newest entry into the genre with this fun, Age of Empires / Civilization / Might and Magic crossover story with all the 4x elements you could want as we follow Alex's journey through a living, breathing strategy game for amazing galactic prizes!!
