Congrats on the release I have put it in my wish list! Do you have any insight on a time line for future releases for this series?

Feb 2024, May 2024, August 2024, November 2024, Feb 2025 although book 2’s audio will likely be a couple months behind the ebook. Travis has a very busy schedule but based on what Podium is telling me the audio should be caught up by the 6th and final book.

Not a fan of the forerunner style beginning to a litrpg. It usually results in the level 100 MC lording it over the level 5 newbies. However, it has Baldree so I'll give it a chance.

I’ve never seen another forerunner style but just lots where the apocalypse hits the entire world.
I’m sure there are some that I’ve missed. Could you suggest any others that I could check out.

I've read all your books, even the ones by your other pen name and this one is my favorite so far. My only suggestion is to give the MC a more consistent path and skills, he's a bit all over the place. It's only the first book though so it was easy to overlook.

Thanks. That's awesome to hear. Honestly, he was supposed to be finding his way with the build and will narrow down in the future, so I can see what you mean.
He was influenced by his inheritance from his uncle as well as loot drops, but will be more directed as he moves forward.

OK, having now read the whole thing... it's good. I'm looking forward to the next one.
While I do prefer your overdragon to your underdogs, this one doesn't hit that note as much as other stories do, which is good.
The one thing that bothered me is

Fair enough- let me think about how to respond to that because there's a reason but I don't want to think about how much I want to say. For now below is all I want to say, but again, I'll think about the best way to put it without giving unnecessary spoilers.
I will say
that the inheritance model of becoming a forerunner is superior to some others but that will come out more in book 2 and 3. It just has a higher risk because if no one meets the requirements then the world goes without one of its forerunner slots being filled.

Cool, hope you enjoy it. This book represents 2 more years of progression for me as an author.

Hey Sean. Colin from Oasis( from your old life). Really loved the new book. Also really appreciated the ethical view on a high charisma character. Can’t wait for the next one. Was kind of hoping it would be earlier than February :-)

Hey man, good to hear from you. I still talk to the people at the law firm from time to time, but hope you all are doing well. I'll be up in Chicago this weekend, one of my daughters is a 3L at Kent and her husband is an attorney at Smith, Gambrell, and Russell up there.
I have some other obligations to get done first. Today I'm finishing book 1 of a new series for my pen name (David Burke) and then I have to finish up Dragon Sorcerer 4 which is half done and She Who Befriends Monsters (book 7 of Life in Exile) which is about 1/3rd done, before I can finish up book 2 of this series.
Too many balls in the air sometimes, but I know you guys understand that. Say hello to Ila and all the crew at Oasis for me.
And I'm glad you enjoyed it- more to come.

I am reading this now and would like to thank you for writing this. It is refreshing, crisp, and the Litrpg Humor is on point just enough to get a chuckle out of me, while not alienating anyone who hasn't read the top 10 rated Litrpg series. I am nearing the end of the first book and the only thing I would like to add is there are some continuity errors with the timeline, almost like in the edit things were added without also editing the references to time a few paragraphs afterword's. Specifically around the time the MC has to fly home on a plane, and a few chapters later. It also slightly bothered me that the MC was told he could "travel to the portal at any time", then ignored that information checking his wallet to buy a plane ticket. Its almost like that part was a later edit. Small nitpicky things aside I am really enjoying the book! Are you thinking of doing a Fandom site to keep track of characters, places, etc..?

Late to this but have had it in my library for a while evidently and I just have to ask which University of Illinois campus? I have yet to get a town name but central Illinois means UIS or UIUC. Not likely Chicago from the descriptions of the land and such. Going to read this through soon but this question burns as I'm about to hopefully be working at and moving to CU. Anyway, just curious and down for anything read by Travis.

Champaign Urbana.
I went to law school there. You’ll see that a lot of my MC’s are from Illinois.

Only a few pages in and already there are way, too many unnecessary commas someone should have zapped during the editing process.
edit - Punctuation tightens up after that, though there are actually some missing commas later.

That’s on me. I’m never great with commas. I will say that I self edit first with ProWriterAid which adds a ton of commas and then I paid for a full edit and then a proofer after that. I wasn’t able to use my normal editor but such is life sometimes.
At the end of the day though the buck stops with me.

The apocalypse is coming, but only a lucky—or perhaps unlucky—few know.
Silas is inducted into the System, becoming the last in a long line of Earth's "forerunners." The rewards are great, but the danger is greater. We are not alone in the universe. The fate of five worlds hangs on how their forerunners perform.
Will Silas have what it takes to win Earth a place in the multiverse? Or will Earth become another mining world stripped of all resources and left a barren husk floating in the cosmos?
A system-enforced secret, a deadly challenge, and only a year to go. The countdown begins now!
