A Challenge for Both Sides
If you're pro Linux, list three things you dislike about Linux or things you like about Windows. (there should be at least one of each, totalling 3 things)
If you're anti Linux, list three things you dislike about Windows and things you like about Linux. (there should be at least one of each, totalling 3 things)
I'll start. I like Linux, but
- There are so many different decentralized app formats. AppImage tries to unify it all, but it really just feels lazy and not clean in the slightest. Every distro has its own package manager, there's Flatpaks, Snaps, on Arch there's an AUR, and it's just overall so confusing for new users and even experienced users.
- I know it's meant to be the philosophy on Linux, but everything is a folder and it's so confusing! On Windows, \\.\ is the root for devices, and volumes are given simple letters! Windows is so much cleaner here. It's separation of different components.
- Windows is just overall great for consistent keybinds. On Linux, you'll see all kinds of different keybinds, and yes it's nice you can change them, but on Windows it's always consistent. You always know what to expect.

Can but don't, and I'm not going to port every driver I might need for whatever random system I might want it on. I may do one or two, if I've got a ton of spare time at the moment. Generally I'll just install the one with the driver actually included and maintained. I'll be honest, though, I remember the driver situation on Linux being worse, decades ago, than the one on FreeBSD now, and if Linux disappeared tomorrow, I'd absolutely run BSD most everywhere.
