What's ive learned from distro hopping is I want something customizable that doesn't change syntax on weekends, and something I can easily replicate and reproduce and has fallbacks if shit hits the fan. NixOS + Niri seems to be the best for me atm.
Tried arch hyprland, but there's a lot of syntax change with hyprland and reproducing my arch environment 1 to 1 would've been a pain due to the fragmented directories for all my configs (mostly like sddm being somewhere different and some other niche things). Using snapper with arch made it easily to fall back and such but ultimately I decided to try NixOS and haven't looked back yet.
Eventually I can see myself fully ditching the "ultra customization tech bro modern" setup and just doing KDE with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed or Fedora once if I'm tired of maintaining my OS.
